FAQ

Which Chanter skill should reach level 16 first?
Dark Crush, according to every creator we checked: its level 16 specialization removes its cooldown, so you can cast it for the whole window that Spinning Strike or Marchutan’s Wrath opens. After that, Grobs takes Onslaught, Spinning Strike and Recuperation to 16, while notXeon prefers Incandescent Blow and then Onslaught.
How do you get Dark Crush to level 16?
Skill points take it to 10, and each of the four PvE Daevanion boards has one Dark Crush node, for 14. notXeon explains that the last two come from Dark Crush lines on rings or the weapon, or from Arcana cards, which he farms in Transcendence dungeons once he reaches their 1,600 gear score requirement.
Which stigmas should a PvE Chanter use?
Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra, Power of the Storm and Marchutan’s Wrath: Grobs’ set and the most common one on questlog.gg. WallyJTV runs Obliterate in place of Power of the Storm, for its 50 Stagger damage on boss stagger checks. notXeon keeps Undefeated Mantra and Power of the Storm in every setup and changes the other two by content.
Should a Chanter use Gust Rampage?
While leveling, yes: Grobs and WallyJTV spam it on staggered bosses, and WallyJTV notes that at level 16 every hit cuts all your cooldowns by 1 second. notXeon stops using it once Dark Crush reaches 16, because the macro rotation then does more damage, and he would rather spend the skill points elsewhere.
Should a Chanter take healing stigmas when there is no Cleric?
Grobs does not: even as the only support, he keeps his four damage and buff stigmas, because he finds Healing Touch too weak for a slot. aLuckyRO adds the shield and heal stigmas only when the group runs without a Cleric. notXeon’s healer loadout is Undefeated Mantra and Power of the Storm plus Impeding Authority and Healing Touch.
Should new Chanters use the macro?
Grobs uses a one-line macro from the start and says it carries the whole leveling phase. aLuckyRO recommends a week without it, until you know your skills, because a macro you do not understand can get you killed. aLuckyRO adds that the rotation gets much easier once Dark Crush has no cooldown.

What is the best Chanter PvE build right now?

The PvE Chanter on Global is a support that deals damage through Dark Crush: it casts Dark Crush in the windows that Spinning Strike, Impactful Crush and Marchutan’s Wrath open, and buffs the party with two mantras and Power of the Storm. The table is the whole build at a glance; each section below explains one part.

Part What to do
Skills to 16 Dark Crush first, then Onslaught, Spinning Strike and Recuperation (Grobs)
Stigmas Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra, Power of the Storm and Marchutan’s Wrath
Stigma levels Undefeated Mantra to 20 first; Power of the Storm and Marchutan’s Wrath to 5
Macro Dark Crush and its triggers in one chain, Incandescent Blow in another; hold it with left click
Opener Power of the Storm, Rushing Smash to the boss, then the macro
Passives Attack Preparation and Wind’s Promise first, then Impact Hit or Inspiring Spell

Which skills should a PvE Chanter push to 16?

Dark Crush first; after that the creators split. Grobs’ public level 45 build (updated 2026-10-06) is the clearest example:

Skill Job in the build Level 16 specialization Grobs, level 45
Dark Crush Main damage, cast inside each window No cooldown 16
Onslaught Basic attack; restores MP; cuts Spinning Strike’s cooldown Adds the Storm Chain chain hit 16
Spinning Strike Unlocks Dark Crush; Critical Damage Boost buff Ignores Block and Evasion, always crits 16
Recuperation Party heal −3s cooldown 16
Incandescent Blow Spam attack between everything else Ignores Block and Evasion, lands as Multi-Hit 12
Rushing Smash Gap closer; resets on a kill Ignores Block and Evasion, lands as Multi-Hit 12
Impactful Crush Unlocks Dark Crush; Stun +20% Stun chance 8
Tremor Crush, Gust Rampage Second gap closer; staggered bosses — 8 / 8

The other creators order the rest differently:

  • notXeon: Dark Crush, then Incandescent Blow for its Multi-Hit, then Onslaught for Storm Chain, then Rushing Smash or Spinning Strike. He calls Recuperation at 16 unnecessary, because the extra heal and the second use matter more than −3 seconds.
  • WallyJTV: Dark Crush first, then Impactful Crush ahead of Recuperation, for its +20% Stun chance. He plays the Chanter as the one who locks enemies down while the damage dealers hit.

Skill points only take a skill to level 10, and the Daevanion boards add four more, one node per board. notXeon’s route to Dark Crush 16 adds the last two from Dark Crush lines on rings or the weapon, or from Arcana cards. He calls saving up for Transcendence dungeons, where those cards drop, your main priority once you reach their 1,600 gear score requirement.

Which specializations should you pick?

Active skills unlock specialization options at levels 8, 12 and 16. Grobs’ picks are below, with the other creators’ changes:

  • Dark Crush: always crits (level 8) and the Piercing Strike chain (level 12) while leveling. At 16, Grobs keeps the crit and swaps Piercing Strike for no cooldown. WallyJTV keeps Piercing Strike and drops the crit instead.
  • Onslaught: absorb HP and +50% Multi-Hit while leveling; then −1s Spinning Strike cooldown per hit (12) and Storm Chain (16). aLuckyRO takes +20% MP restored early, because new characters run out of mana.
  • Spinning Strike: −5s cooldown and up to +20% damage against fewer targets. At 16, Grobs replaces the −5s with always crits.
  • Incandescent Blow: up to 12% more damage against fewer targets, plus +200 Block. aLuckyRO takes −20% MP cost, and WallyJTV pairs the Block with −200 enemy Accuracy at 12.
  • Recuperation: a second use in a row (8) and +5% HP restored (12). At 16, Grobs trades the +5% for −3s cooldown.
  • Rushing Smash: resets its cooldown on a kill at 12, which Grobs, WallyJTV and aLuckyRO all take for farming. WallyJTV adds a chance to trigger Heat Wave Blow.
  • Impactful Crush: Grobs makes it usable while moving at level 8; WallyJTV prefers area damage and +30% Skill Speed.
  • Tremor Crush: +10m range, which brings it to 20m, the same as Rushing Smash.

Which stigmas should a PvE Chanter run?

Undefeated Mantra in every setup, and Power of the Storm in most. The public setups:

Setup Stigmas Source
Leveling and level 45 Undefeated Mantra 20, Power of the Storm 5, Marchutan’s Wrath 5, Sprint Mantra Grobs
Dungeons with stagger checks Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra, Obliterate, Marchutan’s Wrath WallyJTV
Damage Undefeated Mantra, Power of the Storm, Marchutan’s Wrath, Fracturing Blow or Sprint Mantra notXeon
Healer Undefeated Mantra, Power of the Storm, Impeding Authority, Healing Touch notXeon
Early game Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra, Marchutan’s Wrath, Ensnaring Mark aLuckyRO

WallyJTV keeps Obliterate for bosses with a stagger mechanic, because its 50 Stagger damage stops you from wiping. aLuckyRO adds Power of the Storm near the end of a fight when the party is struggling, and takes the shield and heal stigmas only for content without a Cleric. In a premade group whose Cleric already covers the overlapping buffs, Grobs suggests Fracturing Blow: its −30% Defense raises the whole party’s damage, and he argues Defense debuffs are worth most early in the season, since Defense is a flat damage reduction.

Stigma levels. Every creator takes Undefeated Mantra to 20 first: its level 15 and 20 bonuses, +5% Critical Damage Boost and +5% Double Chance, apply to the whole party. Grobs makes one exception: Power of the Storm to 5 before anything else, for −30 seconds of cooldown, which he puts at a quarter of its 2-minute cooldown. aLuckyRO stops Sprint Mantra and Marchutan’s Wrath at 5 early on.

Two stigmas overlap with the Cleric. Undefeated Mantra does not stack with Light of Protection, and Power of the Storm cannot be received while Earth’s Blessing is active. Grobs still takes both when you do not know what your Cleric runs.

How do you set up the Chanter macro?

Put Dark Crush and the skills that unlock it in one chain, put Incandescent Blow in a second one, and hold the macro key together with left click (Onslaught). The macro tries the skills in order and fires the first one that is ready, so Dark Crush fires whenever a trigger has unlocked it. notXeon explains why this works: Onslaught’s animation can be cancelled by your next skill, and Onslaught refills the MP that Incandescent Blow spends, so holding both buttons is both faster and mana-neutral. Most players put the macro on right click.

Creator Dark Crush chain Second chain Used by hand
Grobs, leveling Dark Crush → Spinning Strike → Incandescent Blow — Impactful Crush when Dark Crush is ready again
Grobs, level 45 Dark Crush → Spinning Strike → Marchutan’s Wrath → Impactful Crush Incandescent Blow Power of the Storm, Rushing Smash, Recuperation
WallyJTV Dark Crush with Spinning Strike, Marchutan’s Wrath and Impactful Crush Incandescent Blow Heat Wave Blow, Tremor Crush, Rushing Smash
notXeon Dark Crush → Spinning Strike Incandescent Blow Impactful Crush until Dark Crush reaches 16

The one rule the creators repeat: before Dark Crush reaches 16, do not chain every trigger. With a cooldown, Dark Crush can only fire once, so a second trigger right after the first wastes its window. notXeon and Grobs both fire Impactful Crush by hand the moment Dark Crush is ready again. Once Dark Crush has no cooldown, every trigger belongs in the chain.

notXeon’s macro video predates the Global launch. He notes that most players on the earlier servers left Marchutan’s Wrath out, because you cannot move while casting it, and that Global might change that. Grobs and WallyJTV both keep it in their Global macros.

What is the best Chanter opener?

Power of the Storm first, then Rushing Smash to the boss, then the macro. That is Grobs’ whole rotation: buff the party with Power of the Storm, dash in with Rushing Smash, and let the macro do the damage. Use Recuperation whenever the party loses HP.

Before Dark Crush reaches 16, aLuckyRO times each window by hand: Rushing Smash in, Spinning Strike and Dark Crush, then wait for Dark Crush to come back, open the next window with Marchutan’s Wrath or Impactful Crush, and repeat. He calls the rotation much easier once Dark Crush loses its cooldown, because you no longer need to count.

When should a Chanter use Gust Rampage and Obliterate?

Both belong to boss stagger windows:

  • Gust Rampage only works on a staggered target, and you can spam it for as long as the stagger lasts. Grobs uses it while leveling. WallyJTV finds that its damage falls off later, but values level 16, where each hit cuts all your cooldowns by 1 second. notXeon drops it entirely once Dark Crush is at 16.
  • Obliterate deals 50 Stagger damage. WallyJTV keeps it on the bar to break a boss’s stagger check; aLuckyRO calls it situational.

Which passives should a PvE Chanter level?

Attack Preparation and Wind’s Promise first; every creator lists both among their damage priorities. Attack Preparation gives +5.5% PvE Damage Boost, and Wind’s Promise adds Critical Damage Boost plus extra damage on critical hits, which pairs with Dark Crush’s always-crit specialization. Beyond those two, the creators disagree:

  • Grobs: Impact Hit as the third, for its Double Chance. He also points out Protection Circle, which keeps shielding the party while you hit a boss.
  • notXeon: Attack Preparation, Inspiring Spell, Impact Hit, Earth’s Promise, then Wind’s Promise, which he notes you can max as soon as it unlocks. He skips defensive passives early and calls Raging Spell and Crossguard not worth the points in his testing.
  • WallyJTV: survival first. He opens with Blessing of Life, Crossguard and Protection Circle, because he builds Block, then Inspiring Spell, Wind’s Promise, Attack Preparation and Earth’s Promise.
  • aLuckyRO: Attack Preparation is the top priority; he also calls Crossguard useless.

Crossguard is the clearest split: WallyJTV builds around Block, while notXeon and aLuckyRO find its heal too small to matter.

How should a PvE Chanter spend Daevanion points?

Start with the skill nodes for Dark Crush, Onslaught, Incandescent Blow and Spinning Strike on every board, and collect the Combat Speed, Damage Boost and Critical Damage Boost nodes on the way. Grobs’ 85-point early board gives his core skills +2; his 325-point level 45 board gives them +4. Both boards are drawn node by node in our Chanter Daevanion guide. For other classes’ builds, see the builds directory.

Where does this Chanter build come from?

We have not tested this build in-game ourselves. It is compiled from these sources and cross-checked against the skill data:

Claims about damage and feel, such as how much a skill’s damage falls off later, come from the creators’ own testing, not from the client data.
