FAQ

How many Daevanion boards does the Templar have?
Five. Nezekan unlocks at character level 12, Zikel at 20, Vaizel at 30, Triniel at 40 and Azphel at 45. The first four raise your skills and general stats; Azphel holds PvP and status-effect nodes only.
How many points does it take to fill the Templar boards?
570 points for the four PvE boards: 134 each for Nezekan, Zikel and Vaizel, and 168 for Triniel. Azphel needs another 232, but the planner data charges it in a separate point type, so it never takes points from the PvE boards.
Which board has the Templar’s best passives?
Zikel. It holds two nodes each for Fury, Insulting Roar and Impact Hit, three of the four passives Leonis and Xia rank first, plus Block Pain and Survival Willpower. Nezekan holds the other two-node passives: Punishing Benediction, Enhance Health, Ironclad Defense, Warding Shield and Guarding Seal.
What should a new level 45 Templar put on the board first?
+4 levels on Judgment, Pummel, Punishment and Vicious Strike. NoBS Game Guides’ priority board does exactly that with 140 points, plus +2 on Poach and Shield Rush, which only need level 12 to unlock both of their useful specializations.
Should a Templar take the defensive Daevanion nodes?
Later, yes. The early boards of NoBS Game Guides and Xia barely touch Enhance Health and Ironclad Defense, to rush skill levels. All three endgame boards we checked, from Leonis, NoBS and Xia, take both to +4, and Leonis takes every Damage Tolerance, Critical Damage Tolerance and Multi-Hit Resist node too.
What do Daevanion nodes cost, and can you reset them?
Common stat nodes cost 1 point, passive skill nodes 2, active skill nodes 3 and the large stat nodes 4. A node only becomes available once it connects back to the start of its board. Every node in the planner data lists a reset cost of 500, so changing your plan is cheap.

What is the best Templar Daevanion build for PvE?

Spend your first points on the skill nodes for Judgment, Pummel, Punishment and Vicious Strike, the four skills that need level 16. Then add the passive nodes for Fury and Insulting Roar on Zikel, and pick up the 4-point damage nodes as your paths reach them.

NoBS Game Guides published a priority board that covers the skill part with just 140 points:

Board Points Skill nodes taken 4-point nodes taken
Nezekan 35 Judgment, Pummel, Punishment, Vicious Strike, Poach 1 × Combat Speed
Zikel 51 Judgment, Pummel, Punishment, Vicious Strike, Poach, Shield Rush; Fury, Insulting Roar 1 × Damage Boost, 1 × Damage Tolerance
Vaizel 23 Judgment, Pummel, Punishment, Vicious Strike —
Triniel 31 Judgment, Pummel, Punishment, Vicious Strike, Shield Rush —

The result is +4 levels on all four core skills, +2 on Poach and Shield Rush, and one level each on Fury and Insulting Roar. NoBS’s notes explain the +2: Poach and Shield Rush only need level 12, where both of their useful specializations unlock. To see what those levels do in the rotation, read the Templar PvE build.

Here is that board drawn out. Every path starts at the centre node, and the highlighted nodes are the ones NoBS Game Guides takes. On a computer, hover over a node to see what it gives.

How are the Templar’s Daevanion boards laid out?

Each PvE board has one node for every active skill, and the passives are split between the first two boards. Nezekan and Zikel each hold two nodes for five of the ten passives; Vaizel and Triniel add one node to all of them. For the Templar, that split lands like this:

Board Unlocks at Nodes Points to fill Passive nodes 4-point stat nodes (+1.5% each)
Nezekan Level 12 89 134 +2 Punishing Benediction, Enhance Health, Ironclad Defense, Warding Shield, Guarding Seal 2 × Combat Speed, 2 × Cooldown Reduction
Zikel Level 20 89 134 +2 Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit, Block Pain, Survival Willpower 2 × Damage Boost, 2 × Damage Tolerance
Vaizel Level 30 89 134 +1 every passive 2 × Critical Damage Boost, 2 × Critical Damage Tolerance
Triniel Level 40 117 168 +1 every passive 3 × Multi-Hit Chance, 3 × Multi-Hit Resist
Azphel Level 45 153 232 (own point type) None 4 × PvP Damage Boost, 4 × PvP Damage Tolerance

On the Assassin and Cleric boards, Nezekan is the one to fill first. For the Templar, Zikel matters at least as much. It holds the double nodes for Fury, Insulting Roar and Impact Hit, three of the four passives Leonis and Xia rank first. Fury in particular boosts the whole party, and Noble Armor multiplies both Fury and Insulting Roar. Nezekan holds the fourth, Punishing Benediction, plus the defensive pair Enhance Health and Ironclad Defense, and both Cooldown Reduction nodes.

The filler nodes are the same on every PvE board: +3 Attack, +5 Critical Hit, +5 Critical Hit Resist, +30 Defense, +100 Max HP or +50 Max MP for 1 point each. Passive skill nodes cost 2, active skill nodes 3 and the large stat nodes 4. You can only take a node once it connects back to the start of its board.

Which Daevanion nodes should a Templar take first?

The four core skills, then the damage passives, then the corners on your way. The creators’ notes on their boards add two rules:

  1. +4 on the skills that need 16, +2 on the skills that only need 12 (NoBS Game Guides). Judgment, Pummel, Punishment and Vicious Strike need every level; Poach and Shield Rush stop at 12, where both of their useful specializations unlock.
  2. Rush skill levels by the cheapest path (Xia). Her early board is labelled as the cheapest way to rush priority skills. She still calls the orange 4-point corners high priority, but takes them after the skills.

For passives, Xia’s and Leonis’ boards take Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit and Punishing Benediction to +4. NoBS’s endgame note ranks Fury, Enhance Health and Ironclad Defense as the passives to take to +4 first, a more defensive order.

How do the public Templar boards compare?

Five public boards show the path from a fresh level 45 to an almost full board:

Board (author) PvE points Actives at +4 Passives at +4 4-point nodes
“Priority” (NoBS Game Guides) 140 Judgment, Pummel, Punishment, Vicious Strike None 3
“early game” (Xia) 267 Judgment, Pummel, Vicious Strike, Warding Strike Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit, Punishing Benediction 11
“Global (Updated and improved DPS)” (Leonis) 356 Judgment, Pummel, Punishment, Vicious Strike, Warding Strike, Annihilate Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit, Punishing Benediction, Enhance Health, Ironclad Defense All 18
“End Game” (NoBS Game Guides) 360 Those six, plus Shield Smite and Debilitating Smash Fury, Insulting Roar, Punishing Benediction, Enhance Health, Ironclad Defense 15
“BIG BOMBO DMG BOARD” (Xia) 393 Leonis’ six, plus Shield Smite Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit, Punishing Benediction, Enhance Health, Ironclad Defense 17

The core never changes: Judgment, Pummel and Vicious Strike reach +4 on every board. Xia’s early board gives Punishment and Annihilate only +2 and spends the points on her four damage passives instead. Leonis takes all 18 corners on the four PvE boards and puts 122 points into Azphel. Xia describes her 393-point board as optimized for important skills and damage.

Leonis — THE HIGHEST DPS TEMPLAR BUILD (Daevanion board near the end)

When should a Templar add defensive nodes?

After the core skills and damage passives, but before the board is full. The early boards barely touch defense: NoBS’s priority board gives nothing to Enhance Health or Ironclad Defense, and Xia’s early board gives Enhance Health one level and Ironclad Defense none. Every endgame board we checked takes both to +4:

  • Leonis takes them on his 356-point board, together with every defensive corner: Damage Tolerance on Zikel, Critical Damage Tolerance on Vaizel and Multi-Hit Resist on Triniel.
  • NoBS Game Guides ranks Fury, Enhance Health and Ironclad Defense as his first passives to +4, and takes the Damage Tolerance and Critical Damage Tolerance corners.
  • Xia’s 393-point board takes both passives and most of the defensive corners, while her main focus stays on damage.

Leonis’ guide points to one reason the early boards can skip defense: Warding Strike, which the macro casts every few seconds, already gives +20% PvE Damage Tolerance and a heal. Once you do add Enhance Health, its Incoming Heal bonus makes every one of those heals larger.

Azphel needs no PvE planning. In the planner data it is paid for with a separate point type from the other four boards, so it never competes with them. Its nodes are PvP stats plus Status Effect Chance and Resist.

For the skill levels and specializations these boards unlock, see the Templar PvE build and the best Templar build comparison. The ring and Arcana lines that add more levels are in the Templar gear guide. Every Templar page is linked from the Templar builds hub, and other classes are in the builds directory.
