FAQ

What is the best bow for a Ranger in AION 2?
The crafted Splendent Dragon Lord bow at item level 102: the Splendent Wise Dragon Lord Bow for Elyos, or the Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord Bow for Asmodians. It has five soul binding lines of each kind. The endgame builds of both whelps and J0EI use it at +20.
Is the Enraged Kromede Longbow worth getting?
Yes, as a stepping stone. At item level 86 it adds 2m of attack range, and 22% of geared Rangers on questlog.gg use it. It only has three soul binding lines instead of five, though. whelps uses it from about 2,100 to 2,800+ gear score, and J0EI calls it a placeholder until you can craft a Dragon Lord bow.
Why do Dragon Lord items have different names?
Crafted Dragon Lord gear is faction-specific. Elyos craft True, White and Wise Dragon Lord pieces, while Asmodians craft Star, Dark and Ebony Dragon Lord pieces. The two lines have matching item levels from 62 to 102, so a Splendent Wise bow and a Splendent Ebony bow are the same tier.
What armor should a Ranger wear?
Nuakum armor (item level 86) is the most common set among geared Rangers, at about 36–37% per slot, followed by Vakron (item level 70) at about 21–24%. Both whelps and J0EI upgrade the bow, guard and jewelry to crafted Dragon Lord pieces first and keep Nuakum armor at +10 in their late-game sets.
Which Arcana cards should a Ranger use?
Chalice of Vigor, Parchment of Vigor, Compass of Magic, Bell of Magic and Mirror of Magic. That exact mix appears in the most-liked builds of whelps and J0EI and in Allyria’s written guide. Each card gives one divine stat, and this mix collects Time, Life, Death, Destruction and Wisdom.
What stats should a Ranger look for on gear?
Allyria ranks Double Chance above Perfect Chance, alongside Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction. On the bow and guard she wants Weapon Damage Boost first and Combat Speed second, and on armor and jewelry she wants Focused Eye and Hunter’s Resolve lines. whelps rerolls Accuracy and Critical Hit lines into Attack or Hunter’s Resolve once he reaches the caps.

What gear do Rangers wear in each slot?

Most geared Rangers wear Nuakum or Vakron armor and the same four “everyone has one” accessories: the Noble Belt, Revelation Amulet, Ascension Bracelet and Clash Rune. Most used item in each slot, with its share of geared Rangers and the average enhancement of that item. 462 Global characters on questlog.gg, checked 2026-10-09.

Nuakum and Enraged Kromede pieces are item level 86, Vakron and Aulamus pieces 70. Bracelet shares add up to more than 100% because you wear two. The third most common bow, at 11%, is the crafted Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord Bow, which has the highest item level of the lot.

Which bow should a Ranger use?

Use a crafted Dragon Lord bow as soon as you can, and an Enraged Kromede Longbow until then. The trade-off between the two is range against stat lines. The chart compares the bows Rangers actually use, from the item data on questlog.gg:

  • Kromede Longbow Item level 43
    Required level 37 · 22m range · 3 stat / 3 skill lines
  • Spiritforged Bow Item level 45
Required level 1 · 20m range · no soul binding lines
  • True / Star Dragon Lord Bow Item level 62
    Required level 45 · 20m range · 5 stat / 5 skill lines
  • Aulamus Bow Item level 70
    Required level 45 · 20m range · 4 stat / 4 skill lines
  • Enraged Kromede Longbow Item level 86
    Required level 45 · 22m range · 3 stat / 3 skill lines
  • Deathpiercer Item level 86

The longbows (Kromede Longbow, Enraged Kromede Longbow and Deathpiercer) add 2m to your attack range, but they only roll three soul binding lines of each kind. J0EI calls the Enraged Kromede Longbow a placeholder for exactly that reason: more attack than the quest bow, extra range, fewer lines. The Spiritforged Bow is the quest bow every Ranger starts with, which is why it still tops the usage numbers. It has no soul binding lines at all.

Which Dragon Lord set is yours: Elyos or Asmodian?

Crafted Dragon Lord gear is faction-specific, so guides that name only one line can be confusing. Both lines climb through the same item levels:

Item level Elyos Asmodian
62 True Dragon Lord Star Dragon Lord
70 Splendent True Dragon Lord Splendent Star Dragon Lord
78 White Dragon Lord Dark Dragon Lord
86 Splendent White Dragon Lord Splendent Dark Dragon Lord
94 Wise Dragon Lord Ebony Dragon Lord
102 Splendent Wise Dragon Lord Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord

J0EI, an Elyos Ranger, lays out his upgrade route in this order: True Dragon Lord first, then upgrading through the Splendent and White tiers, and finally Splendent Wise. An Asmodian follows the same route with Star, Dark and Ebony pieces. Every Dragon Lord bow has five soul binding lines of each kind, so even the item level 62 version beats the longbows for stat lines.

How do Rangers upgrade gear stage by stage?

whelps, whose “S1 End Game Ranger PvE” build is the most-liked Ranger character build on questlog.gg (196 likes on 2026-10-09), publishes one gear set per gear score band. Together they show a full upgrade path:

Stage (whelps’ label) Bow and guard Armor Jewelry
Post-45 quest gear (to 1,400) Spiritforged Bow and Guard +10 Pilgrim +3 Pilgrim jewelry; Ascension and Liberator Bracelets +10
1,400–2,100 Aulamus Bow and Vakron Guard +10 Vakron +10 Aulamus necklace and earrings, Star Dragon Lord Ring
2,100–2,400+ Enraged Kromede Longbow and Nuakum Guard +10 Nuakum +10 Enraged Kromede necklace and earrings
2,800+ (“Ludra ready”) Enraged Kromede Longbow and Nuakum Guard +18 Nuakum +10 Kromede jewelry +17, Dark Dragon Lord Ring +17
Season 1 endgame Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord Bow and Guard +20 Nuakum +10 Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord jewelry +20, two Abyssal Bracelets +20

J0EI’s Elyos route is similar. He starts at level 45 with the Spiritforged Bow and Vakron armor, then moves to the Enraged Kromede Longbow with Nuakum armor. From there he crafts a full True Dragon Lord set, and finally upgrades the bow, guard and jewelry to Splendent Wise Dragon Lord.

Notice the order: both creators upgrade the bow, guard and jewelry to crafted Dragon Lord pieces before the armor. whelps’ Season 1 endgame set and J0EI’s “Unemployment Final Boss” set still wear Nuakum armor at +10; only J0EI’s final “Welcome to Endgame” set is crafted from head to toe. Allyria makes the same point. Crafted armor is best in slot, but F2P players most likely cannot afford it in Season 1, and dungeon armor costs little damage.

What should a Ranger soul bind on each piece?

Look for Weapon Damage Boost and Combat Speed on the bow and guard, and Focused Eye and Hunter’s Resolve lines on armor and jewelry. These are the two passives every Ranger guide ranks first. The table shows the top of Allyria’s priority list for each slot. Lower-tier gear has fewer lines, so fill them from the top of the list down.

Slot Allyria’s priority (top four)
Bow and guard Weapon Damage Boost, Combat Speed, Might, Precision
Breastplate Damage Boost, Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Perfect Chance
Greaves Damage Tolerance, Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Perfect Chance
Helm Incoming Heal, Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Double Chance
Pauldrons Critical Damage Boost, Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Double Chance
Gloves Combat Speed, Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Critical Hit
Boots Move Speed, Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Perfect Chance
Cloak Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Double Chance, Attack increase
Necklace Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Combat Speed, Might
Earrings Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve, Might, Precision
Rings Gale Arrow, Deadshot, Tempest Shot, Drill Dart

Two refinements from the creators:

  • whelps: once you reach the Accuracy and Critical Hit caps, reroll those lines into Attack or Hunter’s Resolve.
  • Allyria: for manastones and soulstones, aim for two gold lines per piece late in the season. Early on, Critical Hit and Accuracy rolls are easy to get and worth keeping.

Which Arcana cards do top Rangers run?

Chalice of Vigor, Parchment of Vigor, Compass of Magic, Bell of Magic and Mirror of Magic. whelps’ and J0EI’s most-liked builds use exactly this mix, and Allyria’s guide recommends it too.

The reason is in the item data. Each card gives one divine stat (+20 at top grade, plus 1 per enhancement level), and the Vigor and Magic versions of a card give different stats. From each pair, this mix takes the stat that ranks higher in Allyria’s divine stat priority. It skips the set bonus, which J0EI says is worth less than the stats themselves.

Card Divine stat it gives Skill lines whelps keeps Skill lines J0EI keeps
Chalice of Vigor Time (Magic: Space) Focused Eye, Gale Arrow, Tempest Shot, Drill Dart Snipe, Deadshot, Tempest Shot, Drill Dart
Parchment of Vigor Life (Magic: Destiny) Snipe, Tempest Shot, Drill Dart, Burst Arrow Snipe, Drill Dart, Tempest Shot, Snare Shot
Compass of Magic Death (Vigor: Freedom) Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Marking Shot, Arrow Scattershot Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Marking Shot, Suppressing Arrow
Bell of Magic Destruction (Vigor: Justice) Hunter’s Resolve, Rooting Eye Hunter’s Resolve, Rooting Eye, Revitalization Contract, Vigilant Eye
Mirror of Magic Wisdom (Vigor: Illusion) Focused Eye, Hunter’s Soul, Melee Fire, Concentrated Fire Focused Eye, Concentrated Fire, Unyielding Resolve, Melee Fire

Skill lines on Arcana are random, and each enhancement raises a random line. Allyria’s advice is to enhance a card to +1 or +2 and check that the lines you want are the ones going up. If they are not, try another card instead of pushing to +5. J0EI adds that Arcana come from Transcendence content and cannot be bought.

Which divine stats matter most for a Ranger?

Allyria’s damage priority is Wisdom > Destruction > Time > Death > Illusion > Justice > Freedom > Space > Life > Destiny. The creators describe what the top ones do:

  • Wisdom: Double Chance, the chance for a hit to deal double damage. J0EI calls it king because Global has fewer other Double Chance sources.
  • Destruction: more damage (J0EI).
  • Time: Combat Speed, which speeds up both attacks and casts (J0EI).
  • Death: Critical Hit (J0EI).
  • Illusion: Cooldown Reduction (J0EI).

Bracelets also carry divine stats. Allyria ranks them in almost the same order, with Wisdom first. Arcana, bracelets and Pantheon pieces are where these stats come from, so check which stat a piece gives before you invest in it.

For the skills and stigmas that go with this gear, see the Ranger PvE build. Skill levels from the Daevanion boards stack with the ones from rings and Arcana. All Ranger pages are linked from the Ranger builds hub.
