FAQ

What weapon does the Chanter use?
A staff, with a guard in the off-hand. In questlog.gg’s gear statistics for 332 public Chanter character builds, the quest weapon Spiritforged Staff is the most common (35%), followed by the Enraged Kromede Rod (20%), which the item data lists as a staff, and the crafted Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord Staff (11%).
Is the Chanter a healer in AION 2?
It is a support. Grobs explains that if your party has no Cleric, you become its main support, but you help mostly with buffs and damage, not big heals. Your only active heal is Recuperation; Sprint Mantra and the Protection Circle passive add small heals and shields while you attack.
Can a Chanter do good damage?
Yes. Grobs calls the Chanter a support with very respectable damage, and says that with the current balance it deals a lot of it, though it will never be a true damage dealer. aLuckyRO goes further and plays it as an offensive class, taking healing stigmas only when the group needs them.
What is Dark Crush?
The Chanter’s main damage skill. You can only use it for a short window after another skill unlocks it: 2 seconds after Spinning Strike or Impactful Crush, 3 seconds after the Marchutan’s Wrath or Ensnaring Mark stigmas. Its level 16 specialization removes its cooldown, so you can cast it again and again inside each window.
Does Undefeated Mantra stack with the Cleric’s Light of Protection?
No. The game’s own skill text says only the higher-level effect applies, and Undefeated Mantra wins if both are the same level. Power of the Storm cannot be received while the Cleric’s Earth’s Blessing is active. Grobs still takes both stigmas when you do not know what your Cleric runs.
Is the Chanter good for new players?
Mostly, yes. Grobs gets through the whole leveling phase with one macro line, holding left click and the macro key. aLuckyRO gives the opposite advice for the first week: play without the macro until you know your skills, because a macro you do not understand can get you killed.

What is the best Chanter build in AION 2?

The standard Chanter build is a support that deals real damage through Dark Crush. Its stigmas are Undefeated Mantra, Sprint Mantra, Power of the Storm and Marchutan’s Wrath. Those four are the most common stigmas in public Chanter builds on questlog.gg, and Grobs’ level 45 build uses exactly that set.

Each part of the build has its own guide:

Guide What it covers
Chanter PvE build Skills to push to 16, stigma setups, the Dark Crush macro, passives and the opener
Chanter Daevanion build What each of the five boards holds, and Grobs’ 85-point and 325-point boards drawn out

How does the Chanter deal damage?

Most of it comes from Dark Crush, a 20m skill you can only use for a moment after another skill unlocks it. Grobs calls it one of your main damage skills once it is levelled, and notXeon calls it the whole class identity. The client data shows how the loop fits together:

  1. Spinning Strike and Impactful Crush each unlock Dark Crush for 2 seconds; the Marchutan’s Wrath and Ensnaring Mark stigmas unlock it for 3.
  2. Dark Crush loses its cooldown at skill level 16. Grobs and WallyJTV both put its normal cooldown at 5 seconds, so before 16 you get one cast per window; after it you can cast it for the whole window.
  3. Onslaught, your basic attack, restores MP and from level 12 cuts Spinning Strike’s cooldown by 1 second per hit. At 16 it gains a fourth chain hit, Storm Chain.
  4. Incandescent Blow costs MP and is the skill you spam between everything else. notXeon explains the pairing: Onslaught refills the mana that Incandescent Blow spends.
  5. Spinning Strike also gives you +15% Critical Damage Boost for 30 seconds on hit, stacking twice.

Dark Crush’s level 8 specialization makes every hit a critical hit. aLuckyRO and WallyJTV point out why that matters: the Wind’s Promise passive has a 50% chance to deal extra damage on each critical hit. How the creators put the loop into one macro key is covered in the Chanter PvE build.

How does the Chanter support the party?

The Chanter supports with party-wide buffs first and heals second. In the client data:

  • Undefeated Mantra (stigma): +10.5% PvE Damage Boost and PvE Damage Tolerance for you and nearby party members. Level 15 adds +5% Critical Damage Boost and level 20 adds +5% Double Chance. Grobs calls the last two a big damage increase for the whole party.
  • Sprint Mantra (stigma): +10.5% Move Speed and a 15% chance to heal you and nearby party members on each attack. Grobs notices that groups with a Chanter simply get hit less, because they can walk out of attacks.
  • Power of the Storm (stigma): +20% Combat Speed and −20% cooldowns for 10 seconds for you, and +20% Combat Speed and −10% cooldowns for party members within 40m.
  • Recuperation: heals you and party members within 40m, removes a debuff and heals over time. At level 8 you can use it twice in a row.
  • Protection Circle (passive): every 10 hits shields you and the party for 3.1% of Max HP, so a Chanter attacking a boss keeps shielding the group.
  • Earth’s Promise (passive): each hit lowers the target’s PvE Damage Tolerance by 5.4% for 5 seconds, which raises the damage of everyone hitting it.

Three of these overlap with the Cleric. Undefeated Mantra does not stack with Light of Protection (the higher level applies), Power of the Storm cannot be received while Earth’s Blessing is active, and Earth’s Promise does not apply together with Chain of Torment. The Cleric side of this is in our Cleric builds hub.

Which stigmas do Chanters slot most?

Four stigmas are in almost every build, and nothing else comes close. These shares count only the stigmas placed on the skill bar: many public builds also list stigmas they have levelled but not equipped, or none at all. On 2026-10-11, 435 of the 733 public Chanter skill builds on questlog.gg had at least one stigma on the bar, and 384 of them had exactly four.

Stigma Share of 435 builds What it does
Undefeated Mantra 99% +10.5% PvE Damage Boost and Tolerance for you and the party
Sprint Mantra 93% +10.5% Move Speed; a chance to heal the party on each attack
Power of the Storm 82% +20% Combat Speed and shorter cooldowns for you and the party for 10s
Marchutan’s Wrath 78% Area hit that unlocks Dark Crush for 3s
Guardian Blessing 14% +5.4% Max HP for 120s and an instant heal
Focused Defense 9% Guaranteed block with 100% more Block Damage Reduction
Fracturing Blow 7% Rushes a target and lowers its Defense by 30% for 5s
Healing Touch 6% Party heal within 40m
Impeding Authority 6% Party shield worth 16% of Max HP for 20s
Ensnaring Mark 5% Area hit with a Seal chance; unlocks Dark Crush for 3s
Barrier Spell 3% Keeps you and the party above 10% HP for 3s
Obliterate 1% Area hit with 50 Stagger damage and a Knockdown chance
Assault Shock 0% Area hit with a Stun chance; more Defense per target hit

On Global you equip four.

Which active skills appear in most Chanter builds?

Eight actives are in more than 90% of builds: the Dark Crush loop, both gap closers and the heal. The other four only work in certain situations:

Active skill Share of 435 builds
Dark Crush 98%
Onslaught 97%
Incandescent Blow 97%
Spinning Strike 97%
Impactful Crush 96%
Rushing Smash 96%
Recuperation 96%
Tremor Crush 91%
Wave Blow 77%
Heat Wave Blow 75%
Gust Rampage 72%
Defiance 32%

Gust Rampage only works on a staggered target. Grobs uses it while leveling, but notXeon stops once Dark Crush reaches 16, because the macro rotation then does more damage. Wave Blow needs a stunned target, WallyJTV notes that Heat Wave Blow comes up after a block, and Defiance is your way out of crowd control.

What does every Chanter skill do?

The Chanter has 35 skills: 12 actives, 13 stigmas and 10 passives. The descriptions below summarize the Global client data. Damage numbers are left out because they scale with skill level, and specializations change several of these effects.

Is the Chanter a healer or a damage dealer?

A support that deals damage, with the creators split on how much healing to carry. Grobs sums it up as a support with very respectable damage: you will not heal like a Cleric, and you will never be a true damage dealer. Even when he is the only support in a group, he keeps his four standard stigmas and skips Healing Touch, which he finds too weak for a slot.

The others draw the line in different places:

  • aLuckyRO plays the Chanter as an offensive class. He takes the shield and heal stigmas only when the group asks for them or runs without a Cleric.
  • notXeon keeps Undefeated Mantra and Power of the Storm in every setup. For a healer loadout he adds a shield and a heal, Impeding Authority and Healing Touch; for damage, Marchutan’s Wrath and Fracturing Blow.
  • WallyJTV stresses survival tools instead, building Block for Crossguard and Heat Wave Blow.
