FAQ

What is the best longsword for a Templar in AION 2?
The crafted Splendent Dragon Lord longsword at item level 102: the Splendent Wise Dragon Lord Longsword for Elyos, or the Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord Longsword for Asmodians. It rolls five soul binding lines of each kind. Leonis’ final set uses it at +20; the raid sword Ludra’s Scale Sword is the alternative in huttysamnavarro’s full build.
Is the Enraged Kromede Sword worth getting?
Yes, as the main dungeon weapon. It is item level 86, adds 2m to your attack range and anchors the Nuakum sets of Xia, huttysamnavarro and hellkrasher. It only rolls three soul binding lines of each kind, while crafted Dragon Lord longswords roll five, so treat it as the step before crafting.
When should a Templar replace the Spiritforged Longsword?
Later than you might think. Leonis, author of the most-liked Templar character build on questlog.gg, keeps the Spiritforged Longsword +10 through every stage up to 2,100 gear score and spends his upgrades on armor and jewelry first. NoBS Game Guides reports about 44k damage per second on item level 70 dungeon gear, without any crafted pieces.
Which Arcana cards should a Templar use?
Vigor cards. Leonis runs all five for the Primal Vigor set and calls the Magic set trash for a Templar. Others swap one or two cards for Magic versions: huttysamnavarro runs the Bell of Magic, and hellkrasher the Bell and Compass of Magic. Only the Chalice and the Parchment can roll Judgment, Xia notes.
What skill lines should a Templar roll on gear?
Judgment wherever it can roll. Leonis puts Judgment, Vicious Strike and Warding Strike on his longsword and guard, and Judgment, Vicious Strike and Annihilate on both rings. His armor carries Fury, Insulting Roar and Impact Hit, and the jewelry adds Ironclad Defense.
How do you get a guaranteed Judgment Arcana card?
Xia’s route: finish the Ascension trial with 4,000 points or more and claim three mysterious crystals from the season missions, then get two more from the season shop or by extracting Arcana. With five crystals you can transmute a gold Arcana with a free skill choice. She recommends making the Chalice first, because Judgment is hard to roll on it otherwise.

What gear do Templars wear in each slot?

The Templar statistics show a class that is still early in its gear: Pilgrim quest gear tops most slots, followed by Vakron and Nuakum dungeon armor and crafted Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord pieces. Most used item in each slot, with its share of geared Templars and the average enhancement of that item. 340 Global characters on questlog.gg, checked 2026-10-10.

Pilgrim pieces are item level 41–43 quest rewards with no soul binding lines, which is why they show up so often: many public builds are fresh level 45 characters. The Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord pieces, at an average of about +19, are mostly planned endgame sets. Vakron pieces are item level 70, and Nuakum and Enraged Kromede pieces 86. The Vakron Breastplate stands out at 31%, and Leonis’ path below suggests one reason: it was his pity reward after only three Vakron runs.

Which longsword should a Templar use?

Use a crafted Dragon Lord longsword when you can, and the Enraged Kromede Sword until then. Every longsword has the same base reach, so the real differences are item level and the number of soul binding lines:

  • Kromede Sword Item level 43
    Required level 37 · +2m range · 3 stat / 3 skill lines
  • Spiritforged Longsword Item level 45
Required level 1 · no soul binding lines
  • Fallen Ancient God Longsword Item level 46
    Required level 40 · 4 stat / 4 skill lines
  • Rupture Sword Item level 54
    Required level 45 · 4 stat / 4 skill lines
  • True / Star Dragon Lord Longsword Item level 62
    Required level 45 · 5 stat / 5 skill lines
  • Aulamus Longsword Item level 70
    Required level 45 · 4 stat / 4 skill lines
  • Enraged Kromede Sword Item level 86
    Required level 45 · +2m range · 3 stat / 3 skill lines
  • Abyssal Longsword Item level 86
    Required level 45 · 4 stat / 4 skill lines
  • Splendent Wise / Ebony Dragon Lord Longsword Item level 102
    Required level 45 · 5 stat / 5 skill lines
  • Ludra’s Scale Sword Item level 102
    Required level 45 · +2m range · 3 stat / 3 skill lines
Longswords Templars use, by item level, from the item data on questlog.gg.

The Spiritforged Longsword is the quest weapon and rolls no lines, yet it is the most common Templar weapon, and not only on fresh characters. Leonis keeps it at +10 up to 2,100 gear score. The Kromede swords and Ludra’s Scale Sword add 2m of range but roll only three lines of each kind; every Dragon Lord longsword rolls five. Crafted Dragon Lord gear is faction-specific: Elyos craft True, White and Wise pieces, Asmodians Star, Dark and Ebony pieces, with a Splendent version of each tier.

How does the most-liked Templar upgrade gear?

Leonis, whose character build is the most-liked Templar build on questlog.gg (182 likes), labels each gear set with the gear score it reaches and how he got the pieces. That makes it a step-by-step route:

Gear score What changed How he got it (Leonis’ label)
Level 45 Pilgrim armor and jewelry +5, Spiritforged Longsword and Guard +10 Main story, side quests, sealed dungeons and strongholds
1,600 Vakron Breastplate +10 Pity reward after 3 Vakron runs
1,800 Vakron Gloves and Helm +10, Vigor Arcana cards Pity after 21 Conquest Vakron runs, blue Arcana from Transcendence
1,900 Divine Canyon cloak, greaves, pauldrons and boots +10; Aulamus ring and earrings Pity reward from Urunguru, 2 Arcana from Transcendence
2,100 Nuakum Pauldrons, Aulamus Necklace, Enraged Kromede Ring 3 Exploration Den runs and 28 Fire Temple runs
Final Full Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord +20, two Abyssal Bracelets Crafted

The other public Templar paths follow the same order with different pieces. huttysamnavarro moves from Pilgrim to Vakron armor with Aulamus jewelry (1,600–2,100), then Nuakum armor with the Enraged Kromede Sword and jewelry (2,100–2,600). He pushes those to +17 for 2,800 and finishes with Ludra’s Scale Sword and Ludra’s Heart. hellkrasher publishes eight stages from about 1,000 to 3,300 gear score, ending in Nuakum and Enraged Kromede gear at +20. Xia’s current set is Nuakum +10 with the Enraged Kromede Sword and jewelry.

Two creators push back against rushing crafted gear. NoBS Game Guides reports about 44k damage per second on item level 70 Vakron gear, without crafting, and says skill levels from Arcana matter far more than gear for damage. Xia advises prioritizing item level over everything else right now. She would even take a higher-tier Arcana card that lowers Judgment from 16, if it lets you farm the next dungeon sooner.

Leonis — The Highest DPS Templar Build: Complete Guide

Which soul binding lines should a Templar roll?

Leonis’ final set fills in every line, so it shows what a top Templar aims for. Skill lines raise a skill’s level; stat lines add the stat shown.

Slot Stat lines (Leonis) Skill lines (Leonis)
Longsword and guard Combat Speed, Damage Boost Judgment, Vicious Strike, Warding Strike
Cloak, pauldrons Double Chance, Attack Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit
Helm Double Chance, Attack increase Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit
Breastplate Damage Boost, Attack Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit
Greaves Attack increase, Attack Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit
Gloves Combat Speed, Attack Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit
Boots Move Speed, Attack Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit
Necklace Combat Speed, Attack Fury, Insulting Roar, Ironclad Defense
Earrings Move Speed Fury, Insulting Roar, Impact Hit, Ironclad Defense
Rings Might, Attack Judgment, Vicious Strike, Annihilate

The pattern is simple: Judgment on the weapon, guard and rings, Fury and Insulting Roar on everything else. Leonis’ guide explains the priorities. Combat Speed on the weapon, guard and gloves; Judgment on anything that can roll it, to reach level 20 as fast as possible; Move Speed on boots and earrings. He rolls Attack on all his manastones and says any offensive manastone works.

The other builds vary the stat lines. Xia rolls Perfect Chance on her boots, greaves, breastplate and gloves and adds Weapon Damage Boost to her sword and guard. huttysamnavarro pairs Enhance Health with Fury on every armor piece, and puts Pummel, Punishment and Judgment on his rings.

Which Arcana cards and divine stats should a Templar use?

Vigor cards, with Judgment as the first skill line. Leonis runs all five Vigor cards for the Primal Vigor set and calls the Magic set trash for a Templar. Others keep the four-card Primal Vigor bonus but swap the fifth card. huttysamnavarro uses the Bell of Magic, and hellkrasher both the Bell and the Compass of Magic. The set bonuses in the item data:

Set 2 cards 4 cards
Primal Vigor (Vigor cards) +60 PvE Attack while HP is 70% or more +150 PvE Attack while HP is 70% or more
Magic Armor (Magic cards) Restores 1,500 MP when MP drops to 20% or less (30s cooldown) +1,000 PvE Defense while MP is 50% or more

The skill lines matter more than the set. Xia points out that only the Chalice and the Parchment can roll Judgment, so those are the cards to upgrade first. Leonis’ final cards show the full picture:

  • Chalice and Parchment: Judgment, Punishment and Annihilate, plus Pummel or Vicious Strike.
  • Bell: Fury, Insulting Roar, Punishing Benediction and Enhance Health.
  • Mirror: Impact Hit, Ironclad Defense, Block Pain and Warding Shield.
  • Compass: Warding Strike, Pummel, Shield Smite and Shield Rush.

NoBS Game Guides calls Arcana the only thing that massively boosts your damage, because they push your core skills to 16 and beyond. Pantheon and pets, by comparison, add little.

Xia’s route to a guaranteed Judgment card: finish the Ascension trial with 4,000 points or more and claim three mysterious crystals from the season missions. Get two more from the season shop or by extracting Arcana, then transmute a gold card with a free skill choice. The first skill choice is free; a second one raises the cost sharply. She made the Chalice first, and the gold card also raised her gear score by 60 item levels.

For divine stats, Leonis’ order is Destruction (Attack), Time (Combat Speed), Space (Move Speed), Wisdom (Double Chance) and Illusion (Cooldown Reduction, which means more Judgment windows). Each Arcana card gives one of them: Chalice gives Time or Space, Parchment Life or Destiny, Compass Freedom or Death, Bell Justice or Destruction, and Mirror Illusion or Wisdom.
