FAQ

Why doesn’t my macro fire a full Deadshot?
Deadshot is a charge skill with three charge levels. Moxsy and Allyria both note that the in-game macro releases it at the first level, which wastes most of its damage. Keep Deadshot on its own key and charge it fully by hand, ideally while Precision is active for the extra 35% damage.
How long does Precision last?
Ten seconds from Marking Shot, or 15 seconds with the +5s duration specialization that both whelps and J0EI take. Precision adds 300 Critical Hit, raises Deadshot’s damage by 35% and enables Suppressing Arrow’s stun chance, so refresh it before it drops.
What is the best fourth stigma for a PvE Ranger?
Griffon Arrow is the most common pick (60% of public builds) for its Crimson Flames damage over time. Explosive Arrow (38%) suits macros that slow targets first. Mother Nature’s Breath (14%) is the survival option, and Arrow Storm is the choice for bosses with a hard Stagger check.
Is Arrow Scattershot worth using?
Early on, yes. It can only be used on a Staggered target, and before your combat speed is high it adds damage during stagger windows. Moxsy and J0EI both stop using it later, because holding it on a staggered boss deals less damage than the normal rotation.
How do Rangers fix mana problems?
Snipe restores 120 MP per cast, and 20% more with its MP specialization, which Moxsy takes while leveling. Drill Dart restores 100 MP on a critical hit, and Arrow Scattershot has a specialization that restores 120 MP. Deadshot’s level 8 options include removing its MP cost.
Does Supporting Fire benefit from Ranger passives?
According to J0EI, yes: the orb’s shots can trigger passives such as Hunter’s Soul and Rooting Eye, but not HP-absorb effects from skill specializations. Each shot absorbs 1.5% HP on its own, and at stigma level 20 every shot lands as a critical hit.

What is the best Ranger PvE build right now?

The PvE Ranger on Global builds around Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Drill Dart and Tempest Shot, buffed by Vaizel’s Authority, Bow of Blessing and Supporting Fire. The plan is simple: keep Precision up, keep enemies slowed, and let crits feed both the passives and Vaizel’s cooldown reduction. The table is the whole build at a glance; each section below explains one part.

Part While leveling Level 45 goal
Core skills Snipe and Tempest Shot, then Drill Dart, Gale Arrow and Burst Arrow; Deadshot to 8 early Deadshot and Gale Arrow 20; Drill Dart, Tempest Shot and Snipe 16
Stigmas Vaizel’s Authority, Bow of Blessing, Supporting Fire, plus a fourth Vaizel’s Authority 20 first, then Bow of Blessing and Supporting Fire 15
Macro Gale Arrow → Drill Dart → Tempest Shot Add Snare Shot → Explosive Arrow → Burst Arrow
By hand Marking Shot and a fully charged Deadshot Same
Passives Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve Add Hunter’s Soul, then Concentrated Fire and Rooting Eye

Which Ranger skills should you push to 20 first?

Deadshot and Gale Arrow are the two skills to take all the way to 20. Next come Drill Dart, Tempest Shot and Snipe at 16, and the setup skills at 12. These are the targets in whelps’ build, the most-liked public Ranger skill build on questlog.gg (updated 2026-10-08), and the other creators mostly agree.

Skill Job in the build whelps’ target Other creators
Deadshot Biggest hit; charge to level 3 inside Precision 20 J0EI and Allyria: 20
Gale Arrow Gale buff: +7% Combat Speed and +7% PvE Damage Boost 20 Allyria ranks it first of all
Drill Dart Second-biggest damage; Bleed feeds Concentrated Fire 16 J0EI: 16 for the extra activation
Tempest Shot Filler that ends your chains 16 J0EI: 16
Snipe Basic attack; cuts Deadshot’s cooldown and restores MP 16 J0EI: 12 first, 16 later
Burst Arrow Hits slowed targets; optional 10% HP absorb 12 Allyria: top tier long-term
Marking Shot Grants Precision 10–12 J0EI: 12
Snare Shot Slows the pack so Burst Arrow can fire 12 Allyria: 12
Explosion Trap Pulls enemies together 12 Allyria: 12

Skill levels above what your skill points buy come from Daevanion nodes (up to +4 per skill), Arcana cards and skill lines on gear. J0EI and Allyria both warn that 20 on several skills is a long-term goal in Season 1, because good Arcana cards are scarce.

Which specializations should a Ranger pick?

Active skills unlock specialization options at skill levels 8, 12 and 16. Going by whelps’ notes and build, you can equip one option at level 8, two from level 12 and three at level 20. These picks appear in both whelps’ and J0EI’s public builds unless noted:

  • Deadshot: cast-while-moving and +30% Skill Speed at level 8, then the level 16 bonus damage. Moxsy rushes Deadshot to level 8 for the first two.
  • Gale Arrow: cast-while-moving, plus the level 12 option that adds Combat Speed and damage when it hits fewer targets. At 16, whelps takes −10s cooldown. Allyria uses the +5s duration option early and switches to the cooldown at 16.
  • Drill Dart: the level 16 extra activation. For the second slot, whelps takes +20% Skill Speed and J0EI takes Multi-Hit on hit.
  • Tempest Shot: up to +12% damage on fewer targets (level 8) and +20% Skill Speed (level 16). Both builds match exactly.
  • Snipe: −1s Deadshot cooldown on hit at level 12; whelps, J0EI and Moxsy all take it. At 16, whelps adds the Tempest Arrow chain skill. In J0EI’s test, that extra fourth hit lands about twice as hard as each of the first three. For level 8, Moxsy takes +20% MP and J0EI takes +50% Multi-Hit.
  • Marking Shot: +5% Perfect Chance and +5s Precision duration.
  • Snare Shot: cast-while-moving and +20% Skill Speed (whelps and Moxsy).
  • Burst Arrow: cast-while-moving, plus either up to +20% damage on fewer targets (whelps) or +50% Multi-Hit (J0EI).
  • Explosion Trap: pull enemies on explosion and extra damage after 3 seconds.

If you keep dying while you gear up, Allyria suggests the HP-absorb options instead (0.7% on Snipe, 3% on Drill Dart, 10% on Burst Arrow), then switching back to damage later.

Which stigmas should a PvE Ranger run?

Run Vaizel’s Authority, Bow of Blessing and Supporting Fire, and use the fourth slot for damage or safety. Allyria calls those three the stigmas to always pick for PvE. They are also the three most-used Ranger stigmas: on the skill bar in 96%, 95% and 87% of 443 public skill builds.

Stigma What it does (client data) Level target
Vaizel’s Authority +20% Attack for 10s. Level 5: +10% Perfect Chance. Level 10: ×1.5 Focused Eye. Level 15: ×1.5 Hunter’s Soul. Level 20: 50% chance to cut all cooldowns by 1s on each critical hit 20 first
Bow of Blessing +200 Critical Hit and +100 Accuracy for 10s. Level 5: +50% Multi-Hit Chance. Level 10: Attack based on Critical Hit. Level 15: +20% Critical Damage Boost. Level 20: +7% Double Chance 15, then 20
Supporting Fire An orb fires extra shots for 15s (25% chance per attack). Level 5: +25% chance. Level 10: +15s duration. Level 15: −30s cooldown. Level 20: every shot crits 15, then 20

Why Vaizel’s Authority goes to 20 first. Its level 20 specialization turns every critical hit into a chance to shorten all your cooldowns. Precision (+300 Critical Hit) and Bow of Blessing (+200) make crits frequent, so the cooldown cuts add up fast. Moxsy calls it the biggest power spike a Ranger can get. whelps’ note goes further: get Vaizel’s to 20 first, even if that means resetting your other stigmas.

The creators reach that point in slightly different ways:

  • Moxsy: get all four stigmas to level 5 evenly by level 45. Then reset and put every stigma point into Vaizel’s Authority until it reaches 20.
  • J0EI: Vaizel’s Authority 20, then Bow of Blessing 15 and Supporting Fire 15. He says Bow of Blessing’s level 20 Double Chance can wait, because it costs a lot of stigma shards.
  • whelps: Vaizel’s Authority 20 first, then Griffon Arrow to 15 so it can replace Explosive Arrow.

How do you set up the Ranger macro?

Build skill chains first, then put whole chains into the macro. In AION 2 a chain links up to four skills on one key, and they cast in order while you hold it. A macro line takes the entire chain, not just its first skill. whelps’ build uses two chains:

  1. Gale Arrow → Drill Dart → Tempest Shot. It refreshes Gale, fires your second-strongest skill, and ends on the filler.
  2. Snare Shot → Explosive Arrow → Burst Arrow. The order follows the client data. Snare Shot slows the targets, Explosive Arrow then deals 20% more to slowed enemies, and Burst Arrow can only fire at a slowed or rooted target.

The other creators build the same idea differently. J0EI’s macro (updated 2026-10-09) runs two chains: Gale Arrow → Snare Shot → Griffon Arrow → Burst Arrow, which also slows before Burst Arrow fires, and Drill Dart → Tempest Shot. His three buffs sit on a separate chain key: Vaizel’s Authority → Supporting Fire → Bow of Blessing. Moxsy uses Gale Arrow → Drill Dart → Burst Arrow → Drill Dart and lets the macro fire his three buffs as soon as they come off cooldown.

Keep these out of the macro:

  • Deadshot. The macro releases it at the first charge level instead of the third (Moxsy, Allyria). Charge it by hand.
  • Marking Shot. It moves your character, and Allyria warns that spamming it causes forced jumps that can get you killed. Cast it by hand to keep Precision up.
  • Explosion Trap (situational grouping) and Mother Nature’s Breath (it needs to fire at the right moment).

Snipe stays on left click. aLuckyRO sets the macro delay by ping: 10 ms if your ping is under 50, and 50 ms if it is 80–100 or higher.

What does the Ranger rotation look like on a boss?

Buff up, mark the target, hold the macro and Snipe, and fire a fully charged Deadshot whenever it is ready inside Precision. This is J0EI’s opener, with the details from the other creators added:

  1. Cast Vaizel’s Authority, Bow of Blessing and Supporting Fire. They are skipped if your macro already fires them.
  2. Use Marking Shot for Precision. Mind the direction key: it moves you the way you are pressing.
  3. Hold the macro key and Snipe together. J0EI weaves Snipe with Tempest Shot to cancel animations, and every Snipe hit with the level 12 specialization takes 1 second off Deadshot.
  4. When Deadshot is ready, charge it to level 3 while Precision is up (+35% damage). Moxsy’s rule: always aim it at the toughest target, not at trash.
  5. Before Precision runs out, land your Deadshot first, then refresh Marking Shot (J0EI).

Avoiding boss mechanics is still on you. J0EI stresses that the macro does not dodge for you, and endgame bosses punish a single mistake.

Which Ranger skills fill a boss’s Stagger gauge?

Arrow Storm deals by far the most Stagger damage (50), followed by Griffon Arrow and Explosive Arrow (20 each). Some bosses must be staggered quickly or they hit the whole group, so Allyria advises saving your high-Stagger skills for when the gauge opens.

Skill Stagger Gauge damage (client data)
Arrow Storm (stigma) 50
Griffon Arrow (stigma) 20
Explosive Arrow (stigma) 20
Burst Arrow 15
Deadshot 10–16, by charge level
Gale Arrow, Snare Shot, Suppressing Arrow, Explosion Trap 10 each
Marking Shot 7
Drill Dart 5
Tempest Shot 1

Arrow Scattershot is the payoff skill: it can only be used on a Staggered target. Early on it is worth spamming in that window. Moxsy and J0EI both drop it once their rotation is faster, because holding it then deals less damage than the normal rotation. Allyria still uses it for a quick cooldown cut or HP and MP refill when needed.

Which passives should a PvE Ranger level?

Level Focused Eye and Hunter’s Resolve first; whelps calls them the only two that really matter, and Moxsy and Allyria agree. Hunter’s Soul comes next. After that, take Concentrated Fire and Rooting Eye, then Melee Fire.

  • Focused Eye: Accuracy, PvE Damage Boost and Double Chance. Vaizel’s Authority at level 10 multiplies its effect by 1.5.
  • Hunter’s Resolve: Critical Damage Boost, which every crit in the rotation benefits from.
  • Hunter’s Soul: 50% chance to add Wind damage on a critical hit. Vaizel’s Authority at level 15 multiplies it by 1.5.
  • Concentrated Fire: 50% chance to add damage against a target taking damage over time, such as Drill Dart’s Bleed or Griffon Arrow’s Crimson Flames.
  • Rooting Eye: 50% chance to add damage against a slowed or rooted target, which is why Snare Shot stays in the rotation.

J0EI rates Vigilant Eye low, because he expects evasion to be weaker on Global, and thinks Wind Vigor’s extra Stamina may matter more there than in Taiwan.

How should a PvE Ranger spend Daevanion points?

Put points first into skill nodes for the core skills: Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Drill Dart, Tempest Shot and Snipe. Pick up the Combat Speed, Damage Boost, Critical Damage Boost and Multi-Hit Chance nodes along the way. Then level Focused Eye, Hunter’s Resolve and Hunter’s Soul. The two real boards we compared both end up with +4 on every core skill.

The creators disagree on one point: Allyria takes the big 4-point stat nodes before skill nodes, while Moxsy takes skill levels first. Node-by-node plans are in our Ranger Daevanion guide.

What stats should a PvE Ranger chase?

Prioritize Double Chance, then Perfect Chance, Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction, on top of the usual Attack, Critical Hit and Accuracy. That is Allyria’s order. Combat Speed is the stat every Ranger creator stresses: J0EI points out it speeds up both attacks and casts, including charging Deadshot. A few gear notes from the same creators:

  • Weapon and guard: Allyria puts Weapon Damage Boost first and Combat Speed second. J0EI explains that Damage Boost is worth less for Rangers than Weapon Damage Boost because of where each sits in the damage formula.
  • Rings: Allyria looks for skill-level lines on Gale Arrow, Deadshot, Tempest Shot and Drill Dart.

For the gear itself, from the first bow to the crafted Dragon Lord set, see the Ranger gear guide. The builds directory lists guides for every class.

Where does this Ranger build come from?

We have not tested this build in-game ourselves. It is compiled from these sources and cross-checked against the skill data:

Claims about play feel, such as Tempest Arrow’s damage share or how quickly Vaizel’s Authority resets cooldowns, come from the creators’ own testing, not from the client data.
