What is the best Gladiator PvP build right now?
A PvP Gladiator keeps the PvE damage core but changes its stigmas and specializations. It gives up boss tools for knockdowns, healing reduction and ways to survive crowd control. The setup below follows Sen, whose Gladiator PvP guide (2026-10-07) covers Abyss and arena play on Global, and the public PvP builds on questlog.gg:
| Part | PvP setup | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Core stigmas | Lunge Stance, Zikel’s Blessing | Sen; 17 and 13 of 20 public PvP builds |
| Third stigma | Blade Toss, or Forced Restraint for a 5-second Seal | Sen |
| Fourth stigma | Focused Block (two charges) or Tenaciousness | Sen |
| Control chain | Mocking Blade → Aerial Snare → Overhead Slam | Client data |
| Specializations | Knockdown, Airborne and Block-ignoring options; HP absorbs | Sen; public PvP builds |
| Macro | Animation cancel plus Aerial Snare; everything else by hand | Sen |
| Azphel | PvP Damage Boost corners first, then PvP Damage Tolerance | Sen |
| Presets | One preset for PvE, one for PvP, one for the 10v10 battleground | Sen |
For the PvE side of the class, start from the Gladiator PvE build; every Gladiator guide is listed on the Gladiator builds hub.
Which stigmas should a Gladiator use in PvP?
Keep Lunge Stance and Zikel’s Blessing, then add Blade Toss and a defensive stigma. That is Sen’s bar. Sen calls the two buffs the Gladiator’s best for damage and speed. The other two slots are about fights that last a long time: Sen notes that time to kill on Global is long and targets tend to run, so healing reduction and slows win fights.
| Stigma | What it does (client data) | 20 PvP builds | All Gladiator builds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lunge Stance | +20% Combat Speed for 10s; +20% Move Speed from level 10 | 17 | 93% |
| Zikel’s Blessing | +20% Attack and +100 Accuracy for 10s; +5% PvP Damage Boost from level 10 | 13 | 92% |
| Rage Burst | Lowers the target’s Attack by 10%, +5% PvP Damage Boost for 10s, enables Overhead Slam on it for 10s | 12 | 93% |
| Tenaciousness | Immune to damage and status effects for 3s, then +25% PvP Damage Tolerance for 3s | 11 | 6% |
| Blade Toss | 20m hit; −30% Defense and −50% Incoming Heal on the target for 10s | 9 | 15% |
| Focused Block | Guaranteed parry with 100% Block Damage Reduction; two charges from level 5 | 6 | 55% |
| Lifestealing Blade | Hits up to 4 enemies and absorbs 10% HP | 4 | 35% |
| Armor of Balance | +50% Impact-type Resist for 10s | 3 | 3% or fewer |
| Forced Restraint | 75% chance to Seal the target for 5s | 1 | 3% or fewer |
The “All Gladiator builds” column is the share counted on the Gladiator builds hub (462 builds, 2026-10-11). The PvP builds swap a boss stigma for a fight stigma. Tenaciousness and Blade Toss are several times more common than in PvE, and Focused Block drops from about half of builds to under a third.
Why Sen picks each one:
- Blade Toss. It cuts the target’s Defense by 30% and its Incoming Heal for 10 seconds. Sen counts a 70% healing cut, which matches the client data with the level 5 option (50% base plus 20%). From level 10 it also Slows the target for 5 seconds, which stops runners. At level 15 it breaks Protective Shields.
- Forced Restraint instead of Blade Toss. In the client data it has a 75% chance to Seal a target for 5 seconds; Sen describes the Seal as a silence that stops spellcasting. Its level 5 option adds a Root chance. Sen takes one or the other.
- Focused Block or Tenaciousness. Sen takes Focused Block with its level 5 second charge, because blocking triggers Experienced Counterstrike. In the client data, that passive raises your PvP Damage Boost, and your party’s, for 20 seconds on every block. Tenaciousness is the alternative: 3 seconds of immunity to damage and status effects. In the client data, Tenaciousness, the Cleric’s Salvation and Barrier Spell effects cannot be applied for 30 seconds if invincibility stacking is blocked.
Sen names Lifestealing Blade and Rage Burst as the next stigmas to add if more slots open up. The Paulo template uses a different bar: Lunge Stance 20, Tenaciousness 10, Armor of Balance 5 and Blade Toss 5, with Focused Block replacing Blade Toss for the arena. lzer1337’s “Gladiator S1 Endgame PvP Max DPS” (0 likes) keeps Rage Burst and swaps Blade Toss for Armor of Balance against heavy crowd control.

Why do PvP Gladiators build around knockdown?
Because Overhead Slam, your biggest hit, needs a knocked-down target, and players can be knocked down. In the client data, Overhead Slam only hits a target afflicted with Knockdown. Against bosses, which are immune to crowd control, you rely on its 7% trigger chance or on Rage Burst, which enables it for 10 seconds; that is why Rage Burst is on 93% of Gladiator bars. Against players, your own knockdowns open it:
- Mocking Blade hits a target within 4m and knocks it down for 3 seconds (4 with its level 12 option).
- Aerial Snare only hits a knocked-down target. It has a 50% chance to launch it Airborne for 3 seconds, +25% with its level 8 option, and adds the Forced Fall follow-up at level 12.
- Overhead Slam lands while the target is down.
Ankle Slice (30% Knockdown with its level 8 option) and Rush Strike (30% Knockdown after a dodge, +25% at level 16) give you more chances to start the chain. Two passives pay off on top: Impact Hit raises your Impact-type status chance, and Destructive Impulse deals extra damage to targets under an Impact-type status. Sen sums up the class this way: a Gladiator relies on crowd control, chains it, and adapts when enemies resist.
This is also why public PvP builds treat the control skills as core. All 20 slot Aerial Snare and 19 slot Mocking Blade; among other Gladiator builds, each is on only about 60% of bars.
Which specializations change for PvP?
Take the knockdown, Airborne and Block-ignoring options, and HP absorbs where you can. These are the options that move most between the 20 public PvP builds and the 479 other Gladiator builds we could read in full on 2026-10-16:
| Skill | PvP option | PvP builds | Other builds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aerial Snare | +25% Airborne chance (level 8) | 12 of 20 | 5% |
| Ruinous Blow | Ignores Block and Evasion, lands as Multi-Hit (level 16) | 12 of 20 | 18% |
| Mocking Blade | Ignores Block and Evasion, lands as Multi-Hit (level 16) | 11 of 19 | 5% |
| Rush Strike | +25% Knockdown chance (level 16) | 8 of 19 | 1% |
| Ankle Slice | 30% chance to Knock Down (level 8) | 7 of 19 | 3% |
| Defiance | +25% PvP Damage Tolerance while Tenacity lasts (level 16) | 7 of 16 | 4% |
| Overhead Slam | Absorbs 0.7% HP (level 8) | 6 of 20 | 1% |
| Leaping Slam | Resets its cooldown when you defeat an enemy (level 8) | 5 of 19 | 68% |
Sen’s own picks follow the same idea:
- Keen Strike: the 1% HP absorb and +50% Multi-Hit.
- Rending Blow: Mobile, plus the level 12 bonus damage against fewer targets.
- Leaping Slam: keeps the reset on defeating an enemy, so you can jump out of a bad spot after a kill. Adds the level 12 PvP Damage Tolerance buff.
- Mocking Blade: the HP absorb and +1s Knockdown.
- Overhead Slam: push it to 16 for the no-cooldown option.
- Ankle Slice: the 30% Knockdown and +16m range, because players are hard to catch. Sen calls Ankle Slice a very strong PvP ability.
- Crushing Wave: the HP absorb and the cooldown reset on a Critical Hit, since a Gladiator crits often.
- Rush Strike: Stamina on hit and +10m range.
- Aerial Snare: +25% Airborne and the Forced Fall follow-up.
- Ruinous Blow: level 12, for skill speed and extra damage.
- Defiance: restores 20% HP on use and adds 2 seconds of Tenacity.
Defiance’s Tenacity makes you immune to status effects, and with the level 16 option it also adds 25% PvP Damage Tolerance for its duration. In the client data, Defiance is unaffected by cooldown reduction effects, so Lunge Stance and other cooldown cuts will not bring it back sooner.
Which passives matter in PvP?
The PvE damage passives, plus some survivability. Sen keeps Attack Preparation, Experienced Counterstrike, Destructive Impulse and Impact Hit, and says to put a little more into survival than in PvE. The Paulo template and lzer1337 both add Survival Willpower and Survival Stance.
In the client data, most passives give half their PvE value in PvP. At level 1, Attack Preparation is +5.5% PvE Damage Boost but +2.75% PvP Damage Boost, and Survival Stance is +5.5% PvE Damage Tolerance but +2.75% PvP Damage Tolerance. Survival Willpower is the one built for crowd control. It adds 17% Status Effect Resist, plus +6% PvP Damage Tolerance for 5 seconds when you are stunned, knocked down, launched, frozen or feared.
How should a Gladiator set up macros and presets for PvP?
Use a separate PvP preset and a small macro. Sen keeps three presets: one for PvE, one for PvP and one for the 10v10 battleground. Sen says the battleground equalizes every player’s stats, so specialization slots that are locked on your normal character are open there. Sen fills them in that preset, for example Overhead Slam’s no-cooldown option, and notes that many players forget to.
Sen’s PvP macro does two things: it handles the animation cancel, and it fires Aerial Snare whenever it can, so you never miss a knockdown window. Ankle Slice can go in as a third step. Everything else is used by hand, depending on the fight. The public PvP builds agree: only 6 of the 20 have a macro at all. How the chain order works and what changes at skill level 16 is on the Gladiator macro page.
How should a Gladiator spend Azphel points?
Take the PvP Damage Boost corners first, then PvP Damage Tolerance. Azphel, the PvP Daevanion board, unlocks at level 45 and is paid for with its own point type. It has no skill nodes. In the client data it holds 153 nodes for 232 points:
| Node | Count | Cost each |
|---|---|---|
| PvP Damage Boost | 4 | 4 |
| PvP Damage Tolerance | 4 | 4 |
| Status Effect Chance | 8 | 3 |
| Status Effect Resist | 8 | 3 |
| PvP Attack + PvP Defense, PvP Accuracy + PvP Evasion, PvP Critical Hit + Critical Hit Resist | 8 each | 2 |
| PvP Attack, Defense, Accuracy, Evasion, Critical Hit and Critical Hit Resist | 16 each | 1 |
| Max HP, Max MP | 4 each | 1 |
Sen went straight for PvP Damage Boost, then PvP Damage Tolerance, and buys more Azphel points with Abyss Points. The public Gladiator PvP boards we found agree. The Paulo template’s 110-point Azphel plan and lzer1337’s 388-point board spend Azphel the same way: all eight 4-point corners plus a path of PvP stat nodes between them. notnameless.’s endgame board spends only 65 Azphel points and takes all four PvP Damage Boost corners but none of the Tolerance ones. The PvE boards are covered in the Gladiator Daevanion guide.
What else changes for a PvP Gladiator?
Sen swaps three things besides skills:
- Title. Sen uses a PvP title earned through player kills, which Sen says takes 300 kills. In the client data it is Treading on White Wings for Asmodians and Treading on Black Wings for Elyos. It grants PvP Accuracy, PvP Attack and PvP Damage Boost. It tops a series of titles for defeating enemy players (the earlier ones include Deathbringer and Overtaking White Wings or Black Wings), and it is the only one in that series that adds PvP Damage Boost.
- Wings. Sen equips wings with penetration and Critical Hit for PvP, instead of the boss-damage wings used in PvE.
- Gear. Sen keeps the PvE gear and names the amulet as the one piece worth upgrading for PvP for now.
For the gear itself, see the Gladiator gear guide. To compare community builds by role, see Best Gladiator Build.
Where does this build come from?
We have not tested this build in-game ourselves. It is compiled from these sources and checked against the skill data:
- Skill, specialization, Daevanion and title data: the Global game client data behind questlog.gg’s planners (checked 2026-10-18).
- Sen: The ONLY Gladiator PvP Guide You Need (2026-10-07). The video opens with a sponsor segment, which this page does not use.
- Public PvP builds: the 40 public Global Gladiator skill builds on questlog.gg named or tagged for PvP, searched on 2026-10-18. Shares count the 20 that slot stigmas and are not copies of the Paulo template. Their Daevanion boards come from the same authors’ public planner pages.
- Comparison builds: stigma shares from the Gladiator builds hub (2026-10-11), and specialization shares from the 479 other public Gladiator skill builds we could read in full on 2026-10-16.
The 300-kill title requirement, the battleground stat equalization and buying Azphel points with Abyss Points come from Sen, not from the client data.
