What is soul binding in AION 2?
The system that unlocks the random lines on Unique gear. Soul binding only exists on Unique (gold) gear, and binding an item makes it untradeable, according to MetaBot. The first bind rolls the item’s lines: in questlog.gg’s data an Enraged Kromede Ring “has 4 additional stats/abilities that can be selected”, so each line is either a stat, such as Combat Speed or Might, or a level for one of your skills. Those skill lines are where many players find the last levels toward 16, as our AION 2 skill leveling guide explains.
How many lines a piece rolls depends on the item, in the game data:
| Gear | Soul binding lines |
|---|---|
| Most Unique dungeon and field boss gear (Berk, Bakarma, Vakron, Gartua, Nuakum, Abyssal) | 4 |
| Weapons with +2m range (Enraged Kromede, Ludra) | 3 |
| Crafted Dragon Lord weapons | 5 |
| After a Soul Fuse with Philosopher’s Stones | 1 more |
Four actions shape those lines, and the rest of this page goes through them: binding with Soul Codex, sync to swap one line, reset to reroll every line, and transfer to move the lines to another item.
How does the binding rate work?
Each bind with Soul Codex raises the item’s binding rate, which makes its stat lines stronger. notXeon (2026-10-14) describes it as the way to increase the effectiveness of your soul binds, giving more stats and a little Combat Power. The cost climbs with every step; this is the table on Unique gear in the game data:
| Bind | Kinah | Soul Codex |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 30,000 | 10 |
| 2 | 42,000 | 12 |
| 3 | 59,000 | 16 |
| 4 | 83,000 | 21 |
| 5 | 117,000 | 27 |
| 6 | 164,000 | 36 |
| 7 | 230,000 | 46 |
| 8 | 322,000 | 60 |
| 9 | 451,000 | 78 |
| 10 | 632,000 | 102 |
All ten together cost 2,130,000 Kinah and 408 Soul Codex. Because of that, notXeon only raises the rate once an item’s lines are final. Soul Codex drops from the expedition and Transcendence bosses (1 or 2 per Krao Cave reward cube, for example), and the Nightmare Trade Shop sells it for 400 Phantasmal Fragments.
How do you change a soul binding line?
Sync swaps one line; a reset rerolls them all.
- Sync: under Enhancement, Soul Binding, Sync, you feed in another Unique item, or a Sync Stone, to reroll one line. Grobs (2026-10-19) says any gold item works. The odds are poor: notXeon saw a 1.1% chance to roll Perfect Chance on a piece and puts most lines at about 2% per try, and gold items cost him 0.9 to 1.5 million Kinah each on his server, Grobs 1.2 million on his. Arthars Gaming suggests keeping the bad Unique drops from your alts in shared storage, since your main can still use them as sync material.
- Reset: 3 Soul Codex: Reset and 300,000 Kinah reroll every line on the item, in MetaBot’s reading of the client. Arthars points to it as the way to reroll all of a piece’s lines at once. Soul Codex: Reset comes from achievements, a few quests and the Daeva Pass.
- Sync Stones: the Unique Sync Stone does the same job as a gold item. In questlog.gg’s data it is a Daeva Pass reward, and its fragments come from achievements and the pass. Arthars and notXeon expected Hard mode to bring more of them; the Krao Cave and Draupnir Hard modes added on 21 October drop Philosopher’s Stones instead, in the game data.
notXeon and Arthars both advise against heavy syncing for now: fix the worst line on every piece before you chase perfect lines on one.
What is the transfer trick?
Roll the lines on a cheap Unique item, enhance it to +15, then transfer everything to the item you want to keep. Transfer, under Enhancement, moves an item’s soul binding lines and its enhancement level to another piece, using a Unique Transfer Stone for its slot (weapon, armor or accessory), which notXeon makes by sacrificing one gold item in Substance Morph. Grobs (2026-10-19), who credits the idea to a Reddit post, and notXeon describe the same route:
- Buy or keep a low item level Unique piece for the slot, such as an item level 36 guard. Binding it rolls all of its lines at once, four chances for a good line instead of one per sync.
- Repeat until it has two lines you want. Grobs may need ten or fifteen items, which is still cheaper than syncing.
- Enhance it to +15 first. Enhancing a low item level piece costs far less than an item level 86 one, and the enhancement level carries over.
- Transfer it into your real item. Put your new item in as the target and the cheap one as the source. The target has to be at least one item level higher, notXeon notes, so an item level 70 crafted piece cannot take lines from an item level 70 dungeon piece.
Accessories are the exception: notXeon points out that they do not drop in the open world or from the Shugo Festival, so there are few cheap ones to roll, and he spends spare gold items on syncing rings and necklaces instead.

What do Philosopher’s Stones do?
Add one more soul binding line, once the item is at 100% binding rate. This is the Soul Fuse: the game data prices it at 2 Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation and 1,000,000 Kinah on Unique gear, with a 100% success chance. notXeon warns that the extra line does not carry over when you transfer the item or craft it into its next version, so only fuse gear you plan to keep.
Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation comes from:
- The Season Shop: 30,000 Oath Coin each, 2 per account until 16 December 2026, according to MetaBot.
- Hard expeditions: a 1% chance per reward cube in Krao Cave and Draupnir Hard, and a guaranteed pick after 28 claims; see our Krao Cave and Draupnir Hard mode guide.
- Ludra: a 30% chance per clear in the current client data; see our AION 2 Ludra raid guide.
Arthars, writing before Hard mode arrived, called the fuse not worth 60,000 season coins this early.
Which soul binding lines are best?
A few lines on each slot matter most for damage; the rest depend on your class and on PvE or PvP. These are Arthars Gaming’s PvE priorities in a long Global guide (2026-10-20), and notXeon agrees on Combat Speed for gloves and necklaces and skill lines on rings:
| Slot | Lines to aim for first |
|---|---|
| Weapon and guard | Weapon Damage Boost and Combat Speed, then Damage Boost, Might or Multi-Hit Chance |
| Helmet | Double Chance and Attack Increase, then Incoming Heal |
| Shoulders | Critical Damage Boost and Double Chance |
| Breastplate | Damage Boost and Perfect Chance |
| Gloves | Combat Speed, then Perfect Chance |
| Greaves | Damage Tolerance, Perfect Chance and Attack Increase |
| Boots | Movement Speed, then Perfect Chance |
| Cloak | For PvP: Critical Damage Tolerance, Weapon Damage Tolerance and Status Effect Chance |
| Earrings | Movement Speed and Might |
| Necklace | Combat Speed and Might, then your class passives |
| Rings | Skill levels for your main skills |
Rings are where most players put skill lines, Arthars explains, because two rings with a +1 each take a skill from 14 to 16. For PvP he adds Status Effect Chance on the weapon and guard and defensive lines elsewhere, and lines such as HP, MP, Defense, Block and Evasion are the first he rerolls. Our class gear guides list the lines each class’s top players keep, such as the Spiritmaster gear guide and the Assassin gear guide.
