What is the best Templar macro in AION 2?
It depends on Judgment’s level. Once Judgment reaches 16 and loses its cooldown, the creators switch to Judgment → Shield Smite → Warding Strike → Pummel, now the most common Templar chain: 182 of the 480 public Global Templar builds with a macro (38%) run it, and the Judgment 16 section explains why.
Below 16, the standard is Leonis’ two chains, from his “Offensive Setup - Early” build. 83 of the 480 (17%) use exactly these two, and each chain on its own is in about one in five Templar macros. In the client data:
| Chain | Skill | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Doom Shield | Stigma: rushes to a target within 20m, knocks it down (always, on monsters), shields you for 5% of your Max HP and unlocks Judgment for 3 seconds |
| 1 | Judgment | Your main hit; cast in the window the other skills open |
| 1 | Shield Smite | Hits up to 4 enemies with a 60% chance to Stun (always, on monsters); unlocks Judgment for 2 seconds |
| 1 | Warding Strike | Hits up to 4 enemies, heals you and grants Warding (+20% PvE Damage Tolerance for 10 seconds); unlocks Judgment for 2 seconds |
| 2 | Debilitating Smash | Hits up to 4 enemies and can inflict Debilitate, −25% Defense for 5 seconds |
| 2 | Annihilate | Hits only a stunned or knocked-down target |
| 2 | Pummel | Hits up to 4 enemies; fills the gaps |
The two chains feed each other. Annihilate only works on a target that Shield Smite has stunned or Doom Shield has knocked down, and 86% of builds with Doom Shield take its option that resets Annihilate’s cooldown. Leonis’ note on the build: hold left click and the right-click macro at the same time, and Warding Strike’s buff stays up the whole time, so the full damage setup is still very tanky.
Templar macros are almost always two steps: 404 of the 480 (84%). How chains and the macro key work for every class is in our AION 2 macro guide.
How does Judgment get unlocked?
Through four other skills. Judgment is cast in a short window: in the client data, Doom Shield opens it for 3 seconds, and Shield Smite, Warding Strike and Shield Rush for 2 seconds each. So the macro keeps Judgment in one chain with the skills that open it, and 99% of public Templar macros include Judgment.
Chains that do not lead with Judgment put a trigger in front of it: Doom Shield in 105 chains, Shield Smite in 62. zon1994’s build note describes the result: holding both mouse buttons cycles through the macro and keeps reopening the Judgment window. When Judgment’s icon stops flashing on the right of your screen, the window is closed, and that is the moment for Doom Shield or a dash.
Judgment’s own options all add damage. Among the builds that macro it, 86% take extra damage on hit (level 8), 69% Critical Hit on hit (level 12) and 64% the level 16 option that removes its cooldown.
How does the macro change at Judgment 16?
Judgment moves to the front, and Pummel joins its chain. Without a cooldown, Judgment can fire on every press inside its window, so the creators who have it at 16 lead the chain with it:
| Build | Judgment | Macro |
|---|---|---|
| Leonis, “Levelling” | 12 | Shield Smite → Judgment → Warding Strike; Debilitating Smash → Annihilate |
| Leonis, “Offensive Setup - Early” | 12 | Doom Shield → Judgment → Shield Smite → Warding Strike; Debilitating Smash → Annihilate → Pummel |
| Leonis, “Offensive Setup - Midgame” | 16, no cooldown | Judgment → Shield Smite → Warding Strike → Pummel; Annihilate |
| Xia, “Dungeon Build” | 20, no cooldown | Judgment → Shield Smite → Warding Strike → Pummel; Taunt → Annihilate |
| NoBS Game Guides | 16, no cooldown | Judgment → Warding Strike → Shield Smite → Pummel; Annihilate → Debilitating Smash |
NoBS Game Guides explains why Pummel sits in the same chain as Judgment, after it: otherwise the macro alternates between chains and fires Pummel when Judgment is available. Pummel’s own level 12 option, taken by 90% of builds, cuts 1 second off Punishment’s cooldown per hit.
The public builds have followed. Of the 301 builds with Judgment’s no-cooldown option, 245 (81%) lead a chain with Judgment and 219 (73%) put Pummel in the Judgment chain. Of the 173 without it, those shares are 28% and 17%. Judgment → Shield Smite → Warding Strike → Pummel is now in 38% of Templar macros, up from 21% on 2026-10-19 and 7% on 2026-10-14.
While leveling, Leonis’ note says to spam Pummel alongside the macro, and to swap to Vicious Strike and Warding Strike once Vicious Strike and Judgment both reach level 12.
Should Doom Shield go in the macro?
It is the one real split. 157 of the 360 public Templar builds with Doom Shield on the skill bar (44%) put it in the macro. Leonis does, so it opens the longest Judgment window and resets Annihilate on cooldown.
Xia and NoBS Game Guides keep it, and Shield Rush, on their own keys. Doom Shield rushes you to the target, and NoBS warns that you do not want to dash into bosses at random: a dash fired by the macro while you are dodging a mechanic can cost you your life. Both dashes still unlock Judgment when you press them yourself, and zon1994 saves them for the moment the window has closed.

What should you keep out of the Templar macro?
Your dashes, your charge skill, your buffs and your stagger tools. Among Templar builds with a macro that have each skill on their skill bar, these are the shares that leave it out:
| Skill | Kept out of the macro | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Shield of Protection | 202 of 203 | Defensive stigma: guaranteed Block for a moment |
| Poach | 469 of 471 | Pulls a target to you |
| Shield Rush | 98% | Dash; only after a Dodge or while flying |
| Vicious Strike | 97% | Your basic attack, held on left click |
| Punishment | 94% | Charge skill; its Executor buff gives +20% PvE damage for 20 seconds |
| Empyrean Lord’s Punishment | 94% | 50 Stagger damage; saved for the boss’s stagger bar |
| Battlefield Banner | 91% | 10-second Attack buff |
| Noble Armor | 86% | Max HP buff for 120 seconds |
| Flash Rampage | 86% | Hits only a staggered target |
Punishment is the one to watch. A macro releases a charge skill at the first charge level, so NoBS Game Guides fully charges it on a thumb mouse button before holding the macro, then fires it on cooldown. Vicious Strike restores 100 MP per hit, and 93% of builds take its level 12 option that cuts 2 seconds off Warding Strike’s cooldown per hit. NoBS adds that Noble Armor can go below Annihilate if you want the macro to refresh it, at the cost of a messier opener. The full opener is in the Templar PvE build.
What is the best Templar PvP macro?
One that keeps Debilitating Smash going. Only 28 public Templar builds are named for PvP and have a macro, so treat these numbers as a small sample. 26 of them include Debilitating Smash, and 23 of those take its level 8 option that cuts the target’s incoming healing by 60% during Debilitate.
riderastolfo’s PvP notes give the reason: casting Debilitating Smash as often as possible is the most important thing, because every PvP fight needs its healing cut and Defense reduction. For damage, the notes say Judgment resets matter most. riderastolfo’s macro, which six other public builds copy, repeats Judgment → Shield Smite → Warding Strike and Doom Shield → Debilitating Smash → Annihilate → Pummel three times each, with Grapple → Executing Blade → Punishment once in the middle. riderastolfo mostly taps Punishment to get its Executor buff instead of charging it, because charging feels bad in PvP.
What delay should a Templar macro use?
10 ms. 278 of the 480 Templar builds with a macro set a delay on at least one step, and 397 of those 407 steps use 10 ms. The AION 2 macro guide covers when to raise it for a slow connection.
