FAQ

How do you level Essence Extraction fast in AION 2?
Gather what is everywhere: Odyle and Orichalcum Ore are the two most common node types in every zone, and in the client data Odyle, herbs and cooking ingredients have the smallest gauge. Playnews recommends Orichalcum, Raydam, Azpha and Odyle. Take the Seeker skill for each material you farm so its nodes show on your minimap.
Why did Essence Extraction stop giving EXP?
You reached Novice 50, the end of the Novice rank: the EXP table has no next level until you upgrade. Complete “[Upgrade] Essence Extraction Specialty Skill” by bringing one Splendent Ruby (Bound) to Korius (Elyos) or Alzirr (Asmodian), and you become Professional, which runs to level 100.
Where do you get a Splendent Ruby in AION 2?
From ordinary Ruby Gemstone nodes, while you have the upgrade quest; its description says it is “available only to those qualified to obtain it from Ruby.” The teleport points with the most Ruby nodes are Garden of the Illusion God East Observatory in Verteron (31) and Graverobber Campsite in Altgard (53).
Which Essence Extraction skills should you take first?
Proficient Handling and Delicate Touch first, Lady Luck last, as AllThingsHow and SkyCoach suggest. Each common skill’s first five levels cost 1 to 5 points, and you earn about one point per level, so by Novice 50 you can afford levels 1–5 of all three. Also take the 1-point Seeker skill for the materials you gather.
What level do you need for Essence Extraction?
Character level 10, according to the unlock table in the Global client data. The upgrade quest to Professional lists a recommended level of 45, which is probably where the “level 45” in some guides comes from; what actually opens it is reaching Novice 50 in Essence Extraction.

What is Essence Extraction in AION 2?

It is the game’s gathering skill: every ore, gem, log, herb, cooking ingredient and Odyle node is harvested with it. It opens at character level 10, according to the unlock table in questlog.gg’s Global client data. On the map, the four open-world zones hold 8,204 nodes:

Material Verteron Altgard Eltnen Morheim
Ore 546 530 283 273
Gems 580 590 310 269
Logs 125 158 71 68
Herbs 276 258 149 133
Cooking 500 506 244 222
Odyle 706 650 377 380
All 2,733 2,692 1,434 1,345

The Elyos zones (Verteron, Eltnen) and the Asmodian zones (Altgard, Morheim) share ore (Orichalcum Ore), gems (Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond) and Odyle, but not the rest: Elyos gather Yggdrasil Logs, Aria and Targena, Asmodians Asvata Logs, Azpha and Calendula, and each side has five cooking ingredients of its own. Chaotic Lower Reshanta in the Abyss adds 240 Odyle nodes.

How does an extraction work?

A success gauge and a failure gauge race each other. At a steady rhythm, one of the two bars fills by a random amount; reach 100% on the success gauge and you get the material, reach it on the failure gauge and you don’t, according to SkyCoach. Playnews adds that each node can be extracted two to four times. The client data shows how the node types differ:

Node Gauge Grades it can give Bonus drops
Gems 630 4 (normal, Fine, Pure, Radiant) Poko’s Skin Bundle
Ore, logs 450 4 Poko’s Skin Bundle; logs also Seed of Detection
Odyle 360 4 Poko’s Skin Bundle
Herbs 360 2 (normal, Fresh) Poko’s Skin Bundle, Life Crystal
Cooking ingredients 360 1 Poko’s Skin Bundle

If the gauge value is the size of the success gauge, as its name suggests, gems take the most successful rolls and Odyle, herbs and cooking ingredients the fewest. Seeds of Detection also come from Hidden Cubes opened with a key.

How do you level Essence Extraction from 1 to 100?

Two ranks of 50 levels, with a quest in between. Level 1 starts at 0 EXP and needs 20 for level 2; from there, the proficiency table in the client data adds up like this:

  • Level 10 (Novice) 210 EXP
28 EXP to the next level
  • Level 20 (Novice) 529 EXP
36 EXP to the next level
  • Level 30 (Novice) 935 EXP
47 EXP to the next level
  • Level 40 (Novice) 1,457 EXP
60 EXP to the next level
  • Level 50 (Novice) 2,127 EXP
Cap: no EXP until the upgrade quest
  • Level 60 (Professional) 2,869 EXP
89 EXP to the next level
  • Level 70 (Professional) 3,796 EXP
98 EXP to the next level
  • Level 80 (Professional) 4,821 EXP
108 EXP to the next level
  • Level 90 (Professional) 5,953 EXP
120 EXP to the next level
  • Level 100 (Professional) 7,204 EXP
    Professional maximum
Total Essence Extraction EXP needed to reach each level; questlog.gg client data, 2026-10-16

Novice 50 has no next level: your EXP stops there until you finish the upgrade quest. Professional then needs more than twice the EXP of the whole Novice rank. The client data doesn’t list how much EXP each extraction gives, but MistaWigglez’s video below shows that a failed extraction still gives some, so every attempt counts toward your level.

The fastest way up is to gather whatever is most common where you are. Odyle and Orichalcum Ore are the two most common node types in every zone, and Odyle has the smallest gauge. Playnews recommends Orichalcum, Raydam, Azpha and Odyle, and points to the Orichalcum north of Quai Campsite in Altgard, with Odyle in the sky nearby.

For the exact node positions around a teleport point, open the interactive map on questlog.gg. In game, the Source tab of any material, from the crafting menu or your inventory, shows where it can be gathered, as MistaWigglez demonstrates.

Which Essence Extraction skills should you take first?

Proficient Handling and Delicate Touch first, Lady Luck last, and Seeker for every material you farm. Each proficiency level gives you skill points: 51 by Novice 50 and 109 by Professional 100 in the client data, with extra points at levels 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100.

MistaWigglez walks through the Essence Extraction screen, both kinds of skill points and the upgrade quest in under six minutes:

MistaWigglez — How to Gather in AION 2 | Essence Extraction Guide

Common skills

These three work on every node. Effects and costs come from SkyCoach; wikily lists the same numbers for Proficient Handling.

Skill Effect per level At level 10
Proficient Handling Success gauge fills 5 more on each successful roll +50
Delicate Touch Failure gauge fills 8 less on each failed roll −80
Lady Luck Chance for a successful roll to boost the success gauge massively 40% chance

Levels 1 to 5 cost 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 points and can be bought as Novice; levels 6 to 10 cost 5 points each and need Professional. One skill at level 10 costs 40 points. SkyCoach says you earn one common point per proficiency level, so by Novice 50 you can afford levels 1–5 of all three skills (45 points); the order only decides which help arrives first.

AllThingsHow recommends Proficient Handling first, Delicate Touch next and Lady Luck last; the SkyCoach author raises Proficient Handling and Delicate Touch together, so that every attempt succeeds before chasing big rolls.

Specialty skills

Each material type (ore, gems, logs, herbs, cooking ingredients, Odyle) has three specialty skills, according to SkyCoach:

Skill Cost Effect
Seeker 1 point Shows that material on your minimap
Plentiful Harvest 3 points Up to 30% chance to double the material
Appraiser 3 points Up to 30% chance to reroll the grade

SkyCoach counts 14 specialty points in total, enough to max two material types. Playnews recommends taking the first skill of each type early, so nodes show up on your minimap as you approach. Before you hunt for a Splendent Ruby, the gem Seeker is a sensible first pick. A skill reset costs 50,000 Kinah, according to SkyCoach.

How do you get a Splendent Ruby and reach Professional?

Reach Novice 50, then extract Ruby nodes until a Splendent Ruby drops and hand it in. The quest is “[Upgrade] Essence Extraction Specialty Skill”, from the Artisan Essence Extractor: Korius in Verteron for Elyos, Alzirr in Altgard for Asmodians. In the client data it has two steps, talking to the artisan and gathering one Splendent Ruby (Bound), and it rewards the Professional upgrade plus Artwork: Artisan Essence Extractor (Bound). Guides from games.gg, Destructoid and AllThingsHow agree that it becomes available at Novice 50.

The Splendent Ruby has no node of its own. Its description reads: “Available only to those qualified to obtain it from Ruby.” In the client data, the quest is tied to the regular Ruby Gemstone node of your faction, so it drops at random from those nodes while you have the quest. The guides call it a matter of luck; no drop rate is published.

Where are the most Ruby nodes?

Graverobber Campsite in Altgard and Garden of the Illusion God East Observatory in Verteron. The same nearest-teleport count, for Ruby nodes only:

Verteron (Elyos)

  • Garden of the Illusion God East Observatory 31 Ruby nodes
  • Verteron Fortress Valley 25 Ruby nodes
  • Collapsed Pillar 23 Ruby nodes
  • Pilgrim's Rest 19 Ruby nodes
  • Southern Altamia Coastal Cliffs 18 Ruby nodes
  • Illusion Oratory Entrance 16 Ruby nodes

Altgard (Asmodian)

  • Graverobber Campsite 53 Ruby nodes
  • Fissure Cave 28 Ruby nodes
  • Quai Campsite 26 Ruby nodes
  • Mire Campsite 20 Ruby nodes
  • Beneath the Tranein Highland Bridge 16 Ruby nodes
  • Shulak Street Stall 11 Ruby nodes
Ruby nodes closest to each teleport point in Altgard; questlog.gg map data, 2026-10-16

These fit what the guides describe: Destructoid sends Elyos south of the Garden of the Illusion God Observatory, and games.gg points to the Verteron Fortress Ruins for Elyos and, for Asmodians, to Calderon Canyon south of Safe Haven, with the Tranein Highland among its alternatives. In Altgard, Graverobber Campsite has almost twice as many Ruby nodes as any other teleport point.

The same Ruby node type also spawns in Eltnen (116 nodes; Mystic Spring Canyon and Mystic Spring Observatory have 26 each) and Morheim (89; Searcher Campsite has 43). The guides only mention Verteron and Altgard. Ruby nodes are shared by everyone on the server, according to games.gg, so if a spot is crowded, try the next one on the list.

SimDEX’s video shows the Ruby spots the guides name for both factions:
