FAQ

What is the best Assassin PvP build in AION 2?
Illusive Clone, Triniel’s Dagger, Shadowstep and Spiral Slice. It is J0EI’s “j0eitv’s Assassin Global PVP”, which 14 public builds copy by name, and Keyba runs the same four stigmas for 1v1 and small-group fights. Compared with the PvE bar, it drops Swift Contract and Savage Fang for an escape (Shadowstep) and a buff-stripping gap closer (Spiral Slice).
What does Shadowstep do for an Assassin in PvP?
In the client data it hits a target within 4m, moves you back and gives you 3 seconds of Stealth. Level 5 adds a 40% chance to Stun, level 10 engraves 5 Insignias and level 15 adds 200 Evasion. Keyba calls it the get-out-of-jail card: use it when you are low, reset the fight and come back with the Insignias already stacked.
Why do PvP Assassins skip Storm Rampage?
Storm Rampage only hits a Staggered target. Keyba says you will not use it in PvP, and kaiwel’s arena preset drops it to level 1, noting that only monsters have a Stagger gauge. 98% of other Assassin builds slot it, but only 21 of 44 PvP builds do.
Should an Assassin use Savage Fang in PvP?
Most PvP builds do not. It engraves 5 Insignias on up to 4 enemies, which maxes out Insignia Explosion’s Stun chance, but only 4 of 44 independent PvP builds slot it, against 65% of all Assassin builds. Shadowstep engraves the same 5 Insignias from level 10. kozu0 warns against putting it in a macro, because it can fire on the wrong target.
Which Assassin stigmas work for arena and which for the Abyss?
kaiwel keeps a separate preset for each. The 1v1 arena preset runs Illusive Clone, Triniel’s Dagger, Evasion Contract and Aerial Bind. The preset for sieges, the Abyss and 10v10 battlegrounds swaps the last two for Throw Shadowblade and Shadow Walk. kaiwel says those picks follow Korean top Abyss Assassins.

What is the best Assassin PvP build right now?

Illusive Clone, Triniel’s Dagger, Shadowstep and Spiral Slice, played as a stun-and-burst class. That is J0EI’s Global PvP bar, the most copied on questlog.gg, and the bar Keyba explains in an Assassin PvP build guide (2026-10-08) for 1v1 and small-group fights. Keyba sums up the idea: stay evasive and alive until you find a window to stun the opponent, then use your buffs to burst them down. The whole setup:

Part PvP setup Source
Stigmas Illusive Clone, Triniel’s Dagger, Shadowstep, Spiral Slice J0EI; Keyba
Stigma levels Illusive Clone 15, the other three 10 Keyba
Opener Illusive Clone → Shadowstrike → Triniel’s Dagger, then Insignia Explosion and Quick Slice, then Heart Gore J0EI
Escape Shadowstep, then reopen with Spiral Slice J0EI; Keyba
Gap closers Flash Slice, Whirlwind Slice, Infiltrate J0EI
Specializations Stun, Knockdown and Blind options; shield breaks Keyba; public PvP builds
Left out Storm Rampage and Savage Fang Keyba; public PvP builds

For the PvE side of the class, start from the Assassin PvE build; every Assassin guide is listed on the Assassin builds hub.

Which stigmas should an Assassin use in PvP?

Keep Illusive Clone and Triniel’s Dagger, and swap Swift Contract and Savage Fang for an escape and a gap closer. The PvP bars are much more varied than the PvE one, but Illusive Clone is on almost all of them:

Stigma What it does (client data) 44 PvP builds All Assassin builds
Illusive Clone Removes Heart Gore’s cooldown and adds 20% of your damage as extra damage for 10s 38 96%
Triniel’s Dagger Heavy hit, +30% from behind; increases all of the target’s skill cooldowns by 5% of their duration 24 85%
Swift Contract +20% Combat Speed for 10s 18 91%
Shadowstep Hit, then move back into 3s of Stealth; Stun chance from level 5, 5 Insignias from level 10 17 6%
Shadow Walk 20s of Stealth out of combat; your first hit from Stealth crits from level 5 15 4%
Evasion Contract Removes Slow and Root, grants immunity to both and +200 Evasion for 10s 13 2%
Aerial Bind 50% chance to launch the target Airborne for 3s; 100% at 5 Insignias 10 2%
Evasion Stance Guaranteed evasion of all damage for a moment 9 34%
Smoke Bomb Blinds a target within 10m for 5s 8 16%
Throw Shadowblade 20m hit that slows by 40% for 5s 8 7%
Spiral Slice Rushes a target within 20m and strips 1 buff for extra damage 7 5%
Savage Fang Hits up to 4 enemies and engraves 5 Insignias 4 65%

The “All Assassin builds” column counts the 641 builds with stigmas on the bar among the first 900 public Assassin skill builds we read on 2026-10-16. Spiral Slice looks rare in the 44 independent PvP builds, but J0EI’s build and its 14 copies all slot it.

How Keyba ranks the four stigmas:

  • Illusive Clone is the most important buff and the top priority. Keyba takes it to 15 and saves it until the target is stun-locked, then goes into the damage rotation.
  • Spiral Slice goes to level 10. In the client data, from that level it stuns the target for 3 seconds when it removes two or more buffs. Keyba picks it against buff-heavy classes such as the Templar, Chanter and Cleric.
  • Shadowstep is the get-out-of-jail card. When you are low and cannot get away, Shadowstep puts you in Stealth, may stun the target, and from level 10 engraves 5 Insignias, so you can reset, heal and counterattack.
  • Triniel’s Dagger is the lowest priority for now. Level 5 makes it Mobile, and level 10 cuts all your cooldowns by 10% when it hits. Keyba calls that inconsistent, because a dodge wastes it.

Other players fill the last slots differently. l4z4i’s “Yuriko the Tiger’s Shadow (PvP)” tests Smoke Bomb with Swift Contract and suggests Shadow Walk or Aerial Bind as alternatives. kozu0’s “PvP - General” runs Illusive Clone, Shadow Walk, Swift Contract and Triniel’s Dagger.

How does the Assassin stun chain work in PvP?

Every combo starts with a stun, and the stun opens your follow-ups. The client data links the skills like this:

  1. Shadowstrike moves behind a target within 20m, rotates it and stuns it for 3 seconds. Its level 8 options add 1 second of Stun or a 50% Seal chance, and level 12 adds a 50% Root chance.
  2. Shadow Fall can only be used on a stunned target. It closes up to 10m and knocks the target down for 3 seconds.
  3. Insignia Explosion stuns based on the target’s Insignia stacks: 10% at 1 stack up to 50% at 5. The Stun chance doubles only against monsters, so against players it tops out at 50% with full stacks.
  4. Insignias come from Savage Roar (1), Heart Gore and Ambush (with their level 8 options), Shadow Fall (3 with its level 8 option), and Shadowstep and Savage Fang (5 at once).
  5. Aerial Bind launches a target with 5 Insignias Airborne every time.

Being behind the target matters as much as the stun. Triniel’s Dagger deals 30% more from behind and Ambush 30% more as a back attack. Keyba takes Insignia Explosion’s rotate option so a stunned target is turned around: “you basically just turn them around” and keep hitting from behind.

Storm Rampage stays out. It only hits a Staggered target. Keyba says you will not use it in PvP, and kaiwel’s arena preset drops it to level 1, noting that only monsters have a Stagger gauge. Only 21 of the 44 PvP builds slot it, against 98% of other Assassin builds. Shadow Fall goes the other way: 38 of 44 PvP builds slot it, against a quarter of other builds.

Which specializations change for PvP?

Take the Stun, Knockdown and extra-use options, and the shield breaks. These options move most between the 44 PvP builds and the 492 non-PvP Assassin builds we could read in full on 2026-10-16:

Skill PvP option PvP builds Other builds
Insignia Explosion +1s Stun (level 12) 26 of 44 1%
Flash Slice +1 consecutive use (level 12) 28 of 43 20%
Whirlwind Slice +20% Stun chance (level 12) 20 of 37 3%
Shadow Fall +1s Knockdown (level 12) 20 of 38 3%
Infiltrate Breaks Protective Shields (level 8) 20 of 44 15%
Defiance +25% PvP Damage Tolerance while Tenacity lasts (level 16) 8 of 18 1%

Keyba’s skill notes, for a character with Quick Slice at 16 and most other skills at 12:

  • Quick Slice: the MP refund and Block-ignoring options, so everything else stays usable.
  • Savage Roar: +20% Skill Speed and −1s Shadowstrike cooldown. The second helps against classes that kite you: you close the gap more often, and every Shadowstrike stuns.
  • Shadowstrike: +1s Stun and the 50% Root, because a rooted target takes back attacks all day.
  • Ambush: the shield break, against shield classes, and the 50% chance to trigger Whirlwind Slice, another gap closer with a Stun chance.
  • Heart Gore: the HP absorb and the Insignia for now, the cooldown reset once it reaches 16.
  • Flash Slice: +2s Blind, so you trade better while closing in.
  • Infiltrate: the shield break and +10m range, against Rangers, Clerics and other classes that keep their distance.
  • Shadow Fall: the 10% HP absorb. Keyba calls the heal huge when you are trading blows.
  • Insignia Explosion: the rotate effect and +1s Stun.

Which passives matter in PvP?

Keyba starts with Apply Poison and Rear Smite. In the client data, Apply Poison has a chance on every hit to cut the target’s Incoming Heal and poison it for 10 seconds, and Rear Smite raises your back-attack damage. Exploit Weakness comes next, then the rest. Keyba’s pick is unusual: among the 44 PvP builds, 18 have Exploit Weakness at level 10 or more, as many have Rear Smite and Assault Stance, but only 7 have Apply Poison that high.

Like most PvP stats, the passives give half their PvE value against players. Rear Smite, for example, gives +3% PvE Damage Boost but +1.5% PvP Damage Boost at level 1.

Should an Assassin use a macro in PvP?

Many do not. J0EI’s PvP build has no macro at all, and the opener in its notes is pressed by hand. 27 of the 44 PvP builds have one, usually Insignia Explosion with Quick Slice. Keyba holds the macro and Quick Slice only after the target is stun-locked. kozu0 keeps Savage Fang out of the macro, because it can fire while you are targeting the wrong enemy. Terpskie goes further: the PvP macro holds only your basic attack and Heart Gore, each entered several times, because pressing another skill can cancel the macro. Long cooldowns stay out. The full PvP macro picture is on the Assassin macro page.

Which stigmas fit the arena and which fit the Abyss?

Stealth for open-world roaming, Shadowstep and Spiral Slice for the arena. Terpskie’s Assassin PvP guide (2026-10-06) makes the split explicit:

  • Open world and the Abyss: Shadow Walk, taken to 15 so it works in and out of combat. Terpskie calls it an easy reset in open-world fights: when someone closes in on you, pop it and get out. A long-range gap closer goes next to it, because so many classes fight at range, often while flying.
  • 1v1 arena and small instances: in-combat Stealth only drags the fight out, so Shadow Walk becomes Shadowstep (a disengage and a free reset). The gap closer becomes Spiral Slice, which Terpskie uses as the opener: it strips the target’s buffs and hits hard right away.

kaiwel (0 likes) publishes one skill preset per mode, and notes that presets keep their own skill and stigma levels, so the PvE preset is not touched:

Preset Stigmas Why
1v1 arena Illusive Clone, Triniel’s Dagger, Evasion Contract, Aerial Bind Evasion Contract removes Slow and Root and grants immunity to both; Aerial Bind always launches a target with 5 Insignias
Sieges, Abyss, 10v10 Illusive Clone, Triniel’s Dagger, Throw Shadowblade, Shadow Walk Throw Shadowblade slows at 20m and resets on a kill from level 10; Shadow Walk gives 20s of Stealth between fights

kaiwel says the mass-scale picks follow the top 50 Abyss Assassins on the Korean server. For fights against many Roots and Slows, kaiwel swaps Shadow Walk for Evasion Contract. In the client data, Shadow Walk cannot be used in combat until level 15. Keyba plans separate builds for 5v5, 10v10 and Abyss roaming.

How should an Assassin spend Azphel points?

PvP corners first. Azphel, the PvP Daevanion board, unlocks at level 45, uses its own point type and holds only PvP stats, Status Effect Chance and Resist, and a few Max HP and Max MP nodes. Its eight 4-point corners are 4 PvP Damage Boost and 4 PvP Damage Tolerance nodes. l4z4i’s PvP board spends 162 Azphel points and takes all eight corners plus 6 Status Effect Chance nodes. Keyba’s advice for the four PvE boards is the same shape: take the four corner nodes on each, then the skill nodes for Heart Gore, Savage Roar and your other priority skills. The PvE boards are covered in the Assassin Daevanion guide.

For gear, Keyba builds a separate PvP armor set if you can afford one, but would not give up a good PvE set for it. The Assassin gear guide covers the PvE gear path.

Where does this build come from?

We have not tested this build in-game ourselves. It is compiled from these sources and checked against the skill data:

  • Skill, specialization and Daevanion data: the Global game client data behind questlog.gg’s planners (checked 2026-10-18).
  • J0EI: the notes on “j0eitv’s Assassin Global PVP” (updated 2026-09-29).
  • Keyba: AION 2 Assassin PvP Build Guide – Skills, Combos & Ranked Tips (2026-10-08, Global).
  • Terpskie: AION 2 ASSASSIN PVP GUIDE (2026-10-06).
  • Public build authors: l4z4i, kozu0 and kaiwel’s public PvP builds and notes on questlog.gg, and l4z4i’s public Daevanion board.
  • Public PvP builds: the 66 public Global Assassin skill builds on questlog.gg named or tagged for PvP, searched on 2026-10-18. Shares count the 44 that slot stigmas and are not J0EI’s build, its copies or the Portuguese template.
  • Comparison builds: stigma shares from the 641 builds with stigmas on the bar among the first 900 public Assassin skill builds (2026-10-16), and specialization shares from the 492 non-PvP Assassin builds we could read in full on the same day.

The Korean top-50 basis for kaiwel’s mass-scale preset and Keyba’s stigma priorities come from those creators, not from the client data.
